I'd like to request the following code:

client/var/disablepager = 1
client/var/disablegpager = 1

client/var/disablepager = Disable the pager at all! Nobody may send or receive pages! (Handy for those games like Scarey Game or Mafia so it can be disabled)
client/var/disablegpager = Disable the pager halfly. You still can send and receive pages, but you cannot send/receive pages to people in the same game as you're in.

This would be implemented into the code, so it can't be hacked or anything. The only way for someone to cheat is for someone to have a external chat program like MSN on the background.

I highly vote against this. I myslef like to have my pager available at all times. I'm sure other people would too. If they don't want their pager on, they can just disable it on the preferences screen.

On a side note, you wouldn't need two variables to handle it. You could just set the variable to 1 for half-way disabled, and to 2 for fully disabled.

It's a moot point. If a player wants to cheat with communication, they will, and you won't be able to stop it.

It'll be nice when the pager becomes a second program(as it looks to in 4.0). The people who want to cheat will still cheat, yes. But the convenience of just having it there will be gone. The temptation of the pager just being open, waiting to be used, will be gone as well(unless like with a messenger, they open it up by habit).
If Pheonix Man is worried about people using it to cheat in his game, he can make it so that players choose a name, and said name cannot be their key name. How can you page what you don't know?

They'd still be able to cheat. You'd know who else is in the game, though you might not know which character they are. Its kind of like preventing people from taking graphics from a game, you might be able to do something to prevent it, but it will still be possible.

Yes, but the more work involved, the less people are likely to cheat. People are lazy.

Well, I suppose that you could randomly assign names to people, but have it so that each person sees a different name for each person. For example, you'd see my name as "OneFishDown", but someone else might see my name as "Jon88". That way, you could tell someone that Jon88 is the killer, but Jon88 might be a different person to them. Of course, this does get to the point of possibly detracting from gameplay, and might even extend into being silly, but it would work.
