I've noticed that people complain about rips of DBZeta namely. I have a perfect answer to this problem. Fisrt, I was thinking, why don't they just play other games and ignore the fact that there are other Zeta rips? But then, I found a better solution: Make Channels! That's right, instead of just games live, have channels under the games live. This way, you can have a DBZ channel, and everyone will be happy. You can have rpg, and such, so when you look for games online, you don't have to see all those dbzeta rips running, you can select your own channel, like rpg, and it will show you all the rpg type games that are running online. Do you understand?

Another idea some people have brought up are filters for Games Live, which I wholly agree with. Here's how they say it will work: Click "Games Live!" link on BYOND site. See filter on top of page (somewhat like search with the forum) and type in what to filter out, or what to only see. There should be a radio button for this with two options: Don't Show, and Show Only. The user would type in something, for example let's use DBZ, and they click on Don't Show, and click Filter. The filter shows only games live which do not have "DBZ" in the title. Simple, no? Dantom, please respond to this issue.

Exactly, that's pretty much what I was thinking. This way, we aren't mean to the DBZ fans, and we can still have fun. You know what else I was thinking, have you played Nexus? In that game, if you cuss, or harass other players, you go to jail, and if you do it like 3 times or something, you get banned. I think that should be in every game, like an automatic police so people can play the games without being harassed by other people.

I'm pretty sure you would find that channels were proposed a while back (less than a few months ago I think) in the forums, so I know that DanTom are aware of it. It was discussed as something to try in the future, but there are other more important things - like getting BYOND beyond 'beta' status...

Yeah, I've played the trial. I haven't ran into that, but it sounds like a really good idea though, since a lot of people like to spam, swear, and attack other users verbally in games. This will teach them pretty good.

I guess so. I think DanTom did a good job though, you can't expect them to do everything. There should be like a player council that decides what to do with byond and what changes should be made or something like that, so Dan and Tom don't have to do everything. Oh yeah, where is Dan? Did he just make this BYOND, then sit back and watch it?

Both Dan and Tom are pretty busy guys - just Tom finds more time to get into the forums. I hear from Dan occasionally when I pester him prīvately about the gaming server I'm setting up...
I think there is a 'council' of sorts already in place, I bet some of the members of this 'inner circle' are moderators, and most of them I believe are the more cool-headed veterans of BYOND (those who started near the beginning). What they do and where they do it, I have no idea... but I would imagine these folks have the best interests of BYOND in mind, and keep Dan and Tom up to date on what goes on. This must be true - just look at how quickly the recent F*** game was removed (most people never even noticed it)... |
