I've considered sstarting up a BYONDime account. What happens if, suddely, Dantom intl goes out of buisness completely?
Um..it hasn't happen yet and lets hope it doesn't but you do make a point there.
Then Dan and Tom would be out five years of their lives, and you would have some petty little complaint.
Until the pool of deposits reaches a larger amount, the following policy should be sufficient.

Dantom deposits all BYONDimes into a bank insured by the US government and which, therefore, is expected to follow all of the rules established by the federal reserve as to how this cash may be managed.

The main point here is that BYONDime deposits are considered to be cash that is available for withdrawal at any time. Dantom does not invest or borrow against this money. In the event of Dantom going bankrupt or out of business, that money will be paid back to the BYONDime account holders (minus the normal processing fees) before any other debts are paid.

In other words, you don't loose this money unless all hell breaks loose. If all hell breaks loose, I think you will have other, more pressing things, to worry about.

When the BYONDime pool expands enough, we'll certainly attend to the various subtle legal issues that this arrangement necessarily entails, but the "unless all hell breaks loose" guarantee is not going to change.

In the mean time, BYONDimes are starting to get 'funner and funner'!

That statement should not be taken lightly, people. I can honestly guarantee that with the quality some of these games (the ones that I will actually play, mind you), I am more than willing to cough up some Dimes for them.

Which reminds me... I need to make a deposit soon.

I think I'm going to put some 50 bucks into BYONDimes, too.

If I were you, I'd be thinking seriously about putting in a very strongly worded disclaimer along the lines of "What you do with your BYONDimes is up to you, Dantom doesn't oversee the transfer of BYONDimes or police in-game commerce, etc." I mean, most of the people here are like 12-14 years old, right? I look at all the "get rich quick" ideas that people *cough*jobe*cough* have posted here, and some of the "near-gambling" game payment schemes, and so on, and I just cringe. And look at DBZ Ultriment. What if somebody made a hoax game like that, and then started a rumor that you could get in easier by transfering dimes to the creator? I've already decided to remove the part at the beginning that even mentions donating dimes when/if I run that again.

Does DANTOM take "international money order"?
How does DANTOM feel about someone using BYONDimes as a banking/ecommerce tool?

Very good point. I've been suggesting every so often that Dantom tighten up a lot of the disclaimers with regards to their software, but they're too busy working on the software to write disclaimers. =P

If someone here is good at disclaimers, and has some experience in the field, maybe they'd be interested in lending Dantom a hand at some point? (I'm talking about older people who actually have legal experience, though. So please don't apply if you're in your adolescence or teenage years.)

I think it's funny that you're saying "lighten up" to a post from half a year ago... irony, anyone?
