looks real nice man but the knife in the right hand looks odd to me b/c it points out it should point in like the one to the left but othere then that keep it up

Its a technique used to get the animation, anatomy and overall figure right before any shading is added.

Exactly ;)
Added new version, with fixed pallete and reduced few colors ;) But no more workin on it, i have to finish 2nd one :P |
Good form, but it looks a little over animated. His jaw looks dislocated and his pecks bounce around like they're boobs.

Im confused now, everybody tells me its too static :P Not much squash and stretch :P (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ 12_basic_principles_of_animation)

Boobs jiggle and bounce, that man's pecks shouldn't be jiggling like they were boobs.
Unless, that was...part of your character design. |

I cant say you're right :} If it's boobs, i would probably make it jiggle even more, now its just shading showing that chest isnt static when the guy move up and down. Its possible and realistic for sure with chest of this size (that consist not only 100% trained muscles, but also some mass). Go look at mirror at your chest and then make some jumps, if you still have trouble with believing me. I'm inspiring with the bests (Guilty Gear, Last Blade 2, Samurai Shodowns, Power Inpacts, King of Fighters), where all of char's body parts are moving and bouncing, what makes really 'live' feeling, and there is no term like 'over-animated', because its better to make something move than leave it static :) (and thats what i made wrong, when you will look at arms or foots).
Yeah, everythings there was... part of my character design. (why so ironic?) |

Yeah, it seems like you're way too focused an making everything look like it's made out of jelly to get what I'm saying.
Check out this tutorial if you want to learn how to make a fighter sprite. |

Sorry, i prefer disney's rules of animation than guy's that dont know how to animate (talking about autor of tutorial) :) I know this tut and i really think its shitty, almost 90% of piece is just moving static parts down/up. I was on this lvl 2 years ago, when (i guess) i saw this tutorial first time. But then some really good animators told me to not look at this failure, because it wont help me improve animations for sure :) Street Fighter sprites arent bad technicaly, but there is many ways to draw and animate, and i never liked SF's one (more mechanical sometimes than organic). I know my piece isnt perfect at all, talked with my authority in animating, but as i told, he told me thing very different (he told that i should make more operations here like in the chest, because 'squash and stretch is very important thing in pieces like mine'.
Yet thanks, i appreciate you want to help, but i see you arent really able to. And im in pixels since ~2003, so showing me tutorials i already seen (and i seen really most of them) dont have much sense :P But if you really want to, show me the good ones :) edit: What every part? I made this way only chest. Maybe too much a bit, or you just confused me this much i started to see it, but still, its better than your way, since you want me to make it 'wood-like', and human body is rather a elastic thing ;) |
