this would have to be my first time making a base... i've gotten use to pillow shading.. people say its badd but its practice for beginners.. I'll get out of the habbit soon.. and also the habbit of making big heads.

It might be an eyesore to some of you but i tried my hardest as a 5 hour beginner on pixel arting.

Hmm pillow shade much ;3 well you were going for some good colours but you kinda of went on the wrong path you added some random ass colour which has nothing to do with the others nor did you select a light source direction :P

I hope this helps
what i did was i played around with the out line put detail into it so you could tell whats what and added colours which can be seen probally oh and i added a small tiny dot of light to show were it was coming from

Light source direction hmmm... thanks... But im so use to pillowshading its hard to get out of it.
How about not doing pillow shade from the start and you wont have a problem, Habits tend to take long to work off so dont bother even starting will pillow shade because in all areas, its a no no.

Also if its a "WIP" post in the "Works in Progress section".

Oh Oh.. I didint know that WIP's meant that.. i thought ppl just put WIP meaning its a Wip up lol!!!

Nah im done with this i'll edit the name

Light source is pretty easy, just use shadows and up to 5-6 colours at but mainly try to stick at 5.

Atm your base looks like it's abit bloated, or somewhat fat, so if you just do a straight line from the arms you will give the "thin" look, all you really got to do now is work on your head :D.

Yours Mine

thats the difference between pillow shading at "light direction", use it as a reference ;D. Good luck.

Now thats hard.. cause finding the colors is my biggest task.. it took me awhile to get good colors.. idk hwo ppl save pallets in paint. .i added to custom but then it disappeared wren i exited it out.
In response to Yukay Karyuu
save the pallet next to your character and such, as long as you have room in your pixel space, put the colours down beside your piece of art/pixel and you'll have the pallet there for ya' ;o, But I use Adobe photoshop, I hate paint D:.

i use to use DM.... now i use paint.. im not changing unless i learn how to use graphics gale better.
