I have been working on the Shibusen University. Its from Soul Eater(An awesome Anime/Manga).

I will put the two parts together. Its much easier to make two parts then put them together.
C&C on how they are so far. PLease. :D

Well with the pic you showed, I'd say make the tentacles bigger and wider, also put more space between them
I updated the top and bottom parts of the school. If they don't seemed to have changed just refresh the page.

I made the "Skull legs" larger. I also added some colors to them.
Hmm..For the middle Skull, the Skull Legs bend inward. With the Image of the University you showed, they didn't bend inward they bend outward almost close enough to overlap the other two skulls behind it.

Thanks. I fixed them and I put all the parts together. I think I like how it came out. It looks pretty good. >.<

That building has so much more potential, ; /

If you knocked off all that dither, threw in a couple shades and got rid of all that black (only using it for emergencies) you could have something really special here. Feel free to study or base the rest off my techniques (located in the center), that is if you're still interested in this piece.

Thank you I think I will edit it more. I knew it didn't look the greatest but I was getting kind of tired of make such a big building. It takes up 72 icon_states when I put it into my game. I think thats the most I have ever done. I will post when I'm done.

EDIT: I suck at this! :X I'm trying to do the shading better and its hard. Hulio, I clap for your supreme skills!
yeah its lookn good so far and it does have tons of potential. I love the anime also :D. I think the candles look kinda fuzzy however and what hulio did really made it look amazing. This anime deserves a game if you ask me :P

This is actually a really nice representation of that school. I can see you took your time replicating all the details. BUT, Personally I'd like to see you take your own creative twist into the piece. Instead of copying the picture, copy the concept, and reproduce your own picture. I mean, its not really necessary, but its someone I always like seeing artist do.

The only real problem I see in the current work, without looking too closely, is the colors you used. I think you could maybe pull the contrast of the shadows more to define the forms a bit better.
Haven't updated it in awhile. Took a long time to get the shding jsu right, at least I think it is. I need to work on the eyes of the skull and obviously remastering the rest.

Maybe shade the stairs different colors the further they are to show depth, and fix the candles and the flame(Thats the most messed up part so far).
In response to Bakasensei
Any tips on how I should shade the stairs? I don't think the way I'm going to shade them will look right.
In response to Akto
The stairs at the bottom are lighter than the ones at the top(Thats how you should make them) just sorta fade them out..

Oh.. Thats what I was thinking.. I guess I was right. Thank you though.

You'll be surprised, how much improving one piece can help your entire game. I learned 20% (it's decreased less and less because it's been 2 years now) of what I know from my first pixel piece). I can already see the improvements, less dithering and more real shading.

We might as well push your limits until you feel you're satisfied.

What Bakasensai said about the candles is right it does need the most attention. Also the green represents the jagged lines. http://derekyu.com/extras/pixel10.html You understand how line art works, you'll be extremely good. Thats pretty damn hard to teach so I won't even pay much attention to it after this. I figured if you could pick up the shading I did so easily the same would apply for the line art.

(Being rushed to leave before I can check my typos -_-).

Yay! I love when you post. Their always so helpful. >.< Anyways, Shouldn't I keep the light from the side skulls how they are? The light source is being changed becuase of the fire, isn't it? And I will study up on my pixel art.

EDIT: This aliasing thing is hard... I'm not always quit sure where to put it. I should get ahold of it though.

Damn, I knew that rush would mess me up, I ment to give you this. http://derekyu.com/extras/pixel03.html. When you get comfortable with normal line-art go learn AAing (how to smoothen lines up).

I'm wrong, you're right. The flames will definitely make an interesting light source. See, you already know how things work.
Okay, i'm gonna help you out here alot xD I just went ahead and editting your building alot(Though not all of it). I added shading to the stairs(every oposite one) to show depth, and shading to obj's that stuck out around the sides to make it seem more massive and towering over the person, also some shading at the top and back of it to show more depth. Mainly I fixed the candle towards the left, I re-colored the flame to more accurately show the colors from the picture, shaded it, re-did some line art and shading to its tip to make it look more like a candle and less like a white **** with a flame at the end xD. Also shaded and anti-aliased some parts of the building to give it a more smooth feeling, and to stop some of the jaggy lines from being so jaggy.

Hope this helps you out to finish the building though here are some suggestions:

Don't use the same candle for the right side, cause in the picture it is alot different, even the shading and the dripping of wax. You should really AA the flame and make it more like a flame, I didn't edit the flame that much cause that would have taken me awhile, but you can clearly see what I started to do. Go around and shade up the building just a lil bit more, and add highlight shades to it too, to show more depth and shinyness to it. After that just polish it up by AA the rest of it and then you should be done with the piece!

Lol. Good thing I checked out the whole site. I saw that. I'm going to get working and practicing my line-art.

Well heres the latest update:

Looks like your starting to get the hang of shading. Your lighsource needs to be fixed. Looks like their are two suns shining on each side of the building. This is probably because you just did half of the building and flipped it.
