I did not make this my friend/staff made this and he didn't want to post it so I'm doing it for him. He'll be reading this post.

contrast is too low it seems. Really hard to see the details (though it might look better in game because of the white background you have it in).

Contrast is the key here. Even if it wasn't on a white background, it would still be pretty hard to distinguish the details when the value of the grays are so close to eachother. You've got 2 grays there that are only very slightly different, that your eye wouldn't even pick it up if it wasn't zoomed in. Looking at it more closely, it could also use more AA in places. Also, looking at the reference, I notice that the top part is much less 1 point spike, and more flared out. And I'd suggest adding more definition to the arms. Right now they're rough and generalized.

I did a quick edit for you:

First off, here's what we mean by contrast. Instead of using many colors to slowly make it go from dark to light, use less colors that have more extreme differences in value (But avoid pure black. In most cases, black is a no-no) to make the change from light to dark more drastic. I used 3 different kinds of gray, and a white. Also notice I added some darker grays to define where the arm bends and where the shoulders connect to the arm, so it looks more like the flared top part of the arm is on top of the shoulder joints.

Hope that made sense/helped.

Bit of advice, try not to make useless posts that make no sense or if you feel like doing it don't bump some old thread in the process at the least.

very nice and a great edit, but just white/grey is boring a bit of hue is always a great touch.

The line arts good too ;D

yup contrast was the key and some of the shading seemed a little bit off (there wasn't a clear light source)

Just some things to keep in mind next time
