So, (I'm not tryin ta pick on ya here, just to show you (and others) more than anything - I'm glad you posted this and hope you'll post more :) ) the above is what your mob looks like zoomed in 5 times. All that halo around the mob (the grey splotches) are the pixels that the jpg changes. Also, inside the outline on the mob itself, you can see lots of different colors you probably didn't put there yourself. That's why it's hard to give tips on it: we can't tell what pixels are yours and what are the jpgs. PNGs and GIFs don't do this :). Anyway, from what I can tell. The arms (the forearms) are a bit too large. I'd probably thin them out by a pixel (even two). He actually has a pretty cool posture, almost like he's mad or frustrated and pushing his arms down and his upper back up. If that wasn't intended, then you may wanna raise the head up a pixel. See if you can post a PNG image of your original mob sprite, tho, and we'll see what people say. Good sprite for your first go at it. |
Pretty good for the first time, Danny. Good to see someone trying a larger than 32 base.
If you want this moved to the works in progress forum, lemme know. You might get some more c&c there (that's generally where I do it).
Also, if you want this on the front page of the blog, see if you can save the piece as a PNG or GIF. JPGs aren't good at showing off pixel art (or small game art in general).
