So yeah -- I'm working on a lil' something for a game project I'm currently working on. I'd like to know what you guys think so far of the turf:

To tell you guys the truth; I'm not even sure what the project is about :D! I just got incredibly bored one night and drew up these turfs which are now (supposedly) going into a game.
That art looks pretty dang good. =p
However, there's something that bugs me about it. Right along the clif, you have this little portion of grass that hands over, but that grass doesn't blend in with the grass you have above it...

I love the shading and the shadows though, keep up the good work!

Ill have to agree. The cliff doesn't look like a.. cliff. The grass above looks like its behind the rocks.
eh.. that thing does look weird.. so.. yeah, <.<.. good job?

Thanks for the feedback, bro! I used the same palette as the grass did but it has come to my decision that the grass palette itself must be reworked. I'm striving for that anime-ish type of backgrounds (highly detailed, but yet sort of "cartoony" at the same time.) It simply has too much yellow in it.

I'll post an updated screenshot whenever it's done.

An update -- a rather small one at that! I took the edges and applied more of a "grass-like" material to them; I also took the graphic itself and changed it up a smidge to make it not look so repetitive.

I also placed it in .PNG format so you guys will be actually looking at the picture and not some blob ;)

I like it, personally. As the other said before, the top isn't quite differentiated enough from the bottom to look like another level. Maybe a dirt lead-in to the cliff or something? I dunno.

On a side note, I hate how all the good pixel artists are talented enough to just do their own stuff. xD

I think it's a big improvement over the last one (which was damn good!). It reads as an elevation just fine to me. The grass blends much better as well. Look forward to seeing more.

i think it would make it look more like a elevation if you make the elevated grass just a wee bit darker, also just a edge of dirt and stones would make it better or even better change the texture completely so the top is different then the bottom.

You working with anyone?, i would love to have you help me with SG:Aera. I can tell from your name that you are a Stargate fan.

Yo, guys. It's been a while, heh.

I would like to thank you guys for giving me some much needed constructive criticism as well as the occasional compliment to boost my weak spirit. Over the course of this week I decided to pick up this little small project and improve it even more. This is the result:

As you can see I upped the ante on the shading, adding a muchly desired "SNES" feel to it. And for those of you whom were dissatisfied with the grass to cliff correlation, I added an extra lighter shade to show a greater gap from the top to the bottom. I hope you guys enjoy it. :-)

VERY nice, I love how the grass falls of the cliff like that, very good job If I had more than two thumbs they'd be up too!

Only bad part(to me) is the rocks, I liked the grey stone feeling rocks better.
