Here is my first attempt(after about three hours of messing with it) at an RPG style base. I need to work on the shading a bit, a little more on his legs and reshape his head on the left and right directions. Here it is.

I will start off be saying the head is way to big for the body . The second will be to get rid of that pixel in the middle of the legs (in the front view). The third would be to fix his shoulders they look like he has shoulder pads under his skin. Try to straighten out the legs more. Trying to give 32 x 32 base's a neck is never done the same way as you do drawings of people. It's more about shifting the head and pixels to make it look like it has a neck. And you should really make sure you get the front view right before starting different directions. Example: would be his legs to angled now your isometric view looks weird in the legs. If i have time i will show examples of it, also if you wanted to be fancy with your 32 x 32 do a light source but remember it means more work and no shortcuts like copy past and inverting it.

1. Head's shape needs to be fixed.
2. Torso needs to be wider. 3. Legs need to be longer, and feet need to be smaller 4. Fix the shape of the legs. Basic stuffs, I'm not going to tell you the specifics because I'm not really up to do that. >_> |
1) Big head = aim...
2) Already did that. 3) Check. Already started on the legs. I'll work on the neck now. I made the other directions because I needed examples on my coding. It's a bit hard to do my coding without at least basic(albeit shitty even) icons. Okay, here is an update. ![]() |

You just went and kind of just brushed off my suggestions. RAWR! /anger Alright, to give you a better idea of what I meant, I went in and did a 10 minute edit of your dude. If you decide to use it, I'm fine with it, though you might have problems reproducing the style. The purpose of my edit, however, is so you can learn and see what I'm talking about instead of trying to visualize it. ![]() Okay, now to go through and explain my changes 1. I fixed the head's shape (somewhat). Before, it was too sharp near the top, reminded me of the Coneheads. :P So I went in and I shaved off a few pixels, and redid the ears. I also took off one pixel off of the height of the eyes, and put in a mouth. I gave him a neck too! 2. I widened the torso quite a bit (one or two pixels on both sides). No longer does he look like a creature from outer-space or an anorexic freak. <_< I also gave him abs and pecs. 3. I fixed the arms. The biggest problem in yours was that the arms looked like they were getting thicker the farther it was from the shoulders, kind of like Popeye's mutant wrists. 4. Your legs had some really wierd thing going for its thighs, where there would be a column of pixels sticking out. That was another thing that really made your dude look extra-terrestrial. I know I said to make the feet smaller, I felt that with the new legs, the slightly bigger feet looked better than smaller ones. 5. I reshaded it! Probably the most noticeable change I made. I changed the palette slightly, softened the outlines, and shaded it as if a light source was shining from above. There are definitely a few problems left over, like the awkward shoulders and the legs/feet and the pecs, but that's for next time. |
