Is there any way I could possibly improve on this perfect masterpiece? :)

What can I do to make it look... normal?
You're back already? ;)

hey dont put yourself down its actually pretty good better than my turfs and at least its a place to start :D
Just a quicky Photoshop version of getting basic textures if you have it.

Since everyone else is doing grass, i decided to do the same.

First you create a base shade.

Then use filter>noise>add noise

Then use image>adjustments>desaturate

After that go to image>adjustments>color balance
Just mess around with the colors till you get one you like.

Then use image>adjustments>posterize
this will get a reduced color count.
You'll have to tweak the colors a bit more with the bucket to get rid of any lingering, low contrast colors, which simply take up space.
A shortcut for this would simply be to save it in GIF and reduce color count that way.

Now for wood, thats probably only 30-40 seconds longer in the time it would take to make grass, but same idea.

Steps:
1. Create base shade
2. Create Noise
3. Do a motion blur
4. (A bit longer if you want it to look good)
a. Take the middle piece, take apart it among the many woodgrain lines
b. Recombine the taken apart grains of wood, to your desire to make them uniform or balanced.
5. Desature, Cut the image in half, copy/paste, flip horizontally , and combine. This way its seamless.
6. Actually just a duplicate, sorry.
7. Color it.
8. Increase contrast in adjustments, then recolor with the desaturate/ color process.
9. Reduce color count.

Voila, wood grain. You can tweak it alot to make it better.
