Here's what I had the pleasure of setting up today:
Apple G5 Tower maxed out with everything you can imagine... and not one, but TWO 23-inch widescreen Apple monitors, for dual screen video & film editing.
Droooooool

Yes, but....does it run Linux? *flees*
|
I just missed out on an oppurtunity by two minutes to setup computors and software for two days at six-teen bucks an hour. I almost cried.

Yes it will run Linux, but why someone would dump a UNIX OS with a real GUI and access to lots of critical apps for interacting with people (Word, etc) for Linux is up to question.

Only dual 23"? You need to hold out for dual 30"! Now, that would be sweet. ;)
It actually sounds pretty similar to the G5 I was able to get for my lab at work (which was amazing in itself considering this company is in love with everything Microsoft). It's a first generation, dual 2.0 with a 23" Cinema display. I took an older 23" widescreen SGI monitor and hooked it up as the second display, so it's almost the same... But what's even better is the 6.4 TB of storage on that machine with its two Xserve RAIDs. It's our powerhouse machine that serves up files to Windows PCs, PowerBooks, SGIs, Suns, Linux machines, does serious number crunching, and slick visualization all at once. Yeah, baby! |
