I don't think SilkWizard welcomes intelligence on his blog, Spade. I think he's like ANTI INTELLIGENT or something. He should run for President.
And you're meant to be my friend, Spade. =/ I'm using my alternate key because Silk banned me (yeah take three guesses to who this is. No, not Dan. Not Tom either). :P
So what's your real key then Odi? Is this Silent Sage? I bet you're Silent Sage.

I think Silk is pretty intelligent, but people don't give him enough credit. I'm not sure why so many people hate him. He just has controversial view-points in many areas where people disagree with him. Just keep an open mind to your, and his point of view. That, alone, makes you a more intelligent person.

You are incapable of intelligent discussion, or even civil discussion for that matter. Your crudeness obviously has no limits. Your comment about Deadron is completely uncalled for, and reveals just how pathetic you truly are. If you're trying to incite a reaction out of people for attention, go do it somewhere else. |
You know what I call lazy? Promoting a game's release and completely disregarding it multiple times (for multiple games), such as a year and a few months ago for the release of a widespread phenomenon.
Purely hypothetical, of course. |
I love how you claim that $15 is nothing, yet you complain about spending $15 of your "hard earned" money.
If you wish not to donate or simply can't (Because sometimes $15 is actually hard to get ahold of) then don't, no need to knock those who are KIND enough to donate. Lazy is a term that doesn't fit here, if the people had the cash to spend then they would if needed. Not everyone gets money for chores, not everyone can get their hands on $15... it's as easy as that. |
I am pretty sure Silk is saying that what you are contributing to, you might want to rethink what the affect will be.
Currently the community is flooded with game rips, Naruto games, Dragonball games, etc. Some of those who are controlling the ranking system are the people being bought "gift" memberships, which over 90% are at too young of an age to maturely decide what they want. If you cannot pay for a $15 membership due to your young age, then you are probably too young to even buy one (which should be quite obvious). If you can afford it at such a tender age, then great! ~ Meteosync |

I love how you claim that $15 is nothing, yet you complain about spending $15 of your "hard earned" money. It could be $1 or $1000; giving money to someone who doesn't deserve it is deplorable. Just because anyone can work to earn $15 doesn't mean that it is without value. >Lazy is a term that doesn't fit here, if the people had the cash to spend then they would if needed. Not everyone gets money for chores, not everyone can get their hands on $15... it's as easy as that. How did these people obtain memberships in the first place? Are you telling me that the masses of people begging for a membership renewal lately have absolutely no way to pay for themselves? Thanks, but try again. |

It isn't out of the question I have no way of paying for it, my parents would probably think this is some kind of geek or pervert site, despite me telling them it isn't. I'm sure there are many others with situations similar to my own. |

Do work for someone in exchange for a membership. Create a BYOND game that charges for subscriptions and use that money to buy a membership. Participate in the multitude of contests that give away memberships. Heck, I had no intention of renewing my membership, but I won a renewal simply by submitting a screenshot of AA. I'm not saying that obtaining a membership is easy if your parents won't let you pay for stuff online... but there are better ways to go about it than flat out begging. |

no, the chicken came first!
do BYONDers become lazy because people are willing to buy them memberships? or were they already lazy before asking for a free membership? |
Its not BYONDers its everyone in developed countries. Especially Europeans and especially, especially the French.
/Worldweaver with the out of nowhere jab! But really, it is not hard at all to get the money. Solbad you live close enough that you could freaking drive down to meet Tom and give it to him in person, hell we should carpool to meet him sometime. Send a money order people, there is no rule that says you have to be over 18 for a money order. Be proactive. I didn't even take the membership I won for Progeny's screen shot because I want to donate my money to BYOND. Instead I gave it to my friend who didn't want one. Speaking of which... I've only got 30 days left... |

You're right, we should, but where would I meet you? I think that'd be pretty interesting though |
nope
and I don't think any of my friends would be down for the idea. "hey guys, would you drive me to meet a guy I met on the internet" "what so he can rape you or something" "no he's about my age" "SUUUUURRREEE THAT'S WHAT THEY ALL SAY" I don't need a conversation like that.... |
In addition to BYOND developers there are also BYOND players. A player who helps create a welcoming (or simply entertaining) environment for other players could be an excellent choice for a gift membership.

Yup, agreed 100% (I actually told this to Sarm a bit earlier today: http://silkgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2574&start=15 ) |
Get some backbone, geez. (I don't mean that literally.)
