These days you look around... Left, Right, and all you see are a series of DBZ Games, Bleach Games, Naruto Games...Even...Charmed Games, And whether they are ripped or not, I don't see anything with much substance.

All people do is fight, which is fine, because fighting is human nature, and we need conflict. But how about diversity... Who thinks differently and can imagine a game, and make a game that is good enough to be ripped because it is just that original and addicting that people want to play it?

Things are ripped because someone did a good job on it, and someone thinks they could be as successful as the original creator by abusing their trust and publishing their own version of the game.

I want to see someone make a great original BYOND game, not based off of anything but their own imagination. Dragon Ball Z or Naruto didn't take their ideas from anyone else. They thought them all up and made their own material from their OWN culture. We are all very different and have different cultures, and maybe some of us are curious enough to learn from eachother's cultures.

Open a note pad, write down ideas, share them with people who are close to you and try to make something of it.

This is just a suggestive post. If you get inspired by some random act of God, then go for it. If not, then good luck with any future game attempts you may have, or may help with.
There are many completely original games on BYOND, the only problem is that all the good games get caught up in the poor shoddy ones and get no community exposure.
"Hm, Naruto or LRS?"
*Enters LRS for about 3 seconds and waits*
"This sucks!"
*leaves for the Naruto game and is entrapped in it forever*
We're programmers, we have no imagination. We need a design team.
Since when are DBZ/Naruto games any good? It's the idea behind it that people think is good, not the actual game.
Well I've got tons of ideas but sadly never anyone to work with, I mean for example imagine a board game using the same basic concepts of "Mario Party" theres tons more...
Not all programmers lack imagination. I myself, can imagine things and come up with ideas while programming at the same time. Originally, however, I wasn't going to build any real fangame. Only fangames I have up are Disky Challenge and Classic Tron BYOND Edition.

Now, I am working on a project that will be based off of my own ideas and others if they have any (I will make sure they get credited). Currently called Civilization Revolution (may seem like a fangame of Civilization, but is actually taking a different approach, the RPG or Life Simulation approach), it will contain ideas that are hopefully new. That project has been through its 3rd or 4th incarnation, due to it dying several times.
We've all heard this argument before. A large amount of the new people we get everday is because of the fan games. I myself came to BYOND when I was looking for a decent yugioh game to play, and I found DMO, then moved on to Seika. Then moved onto programming. So Fangames aren't all that bad, you should blame the rips, not the fangames.

Thats exactly what I meant, but didn't exactly say as I could have.

These people come up with ideas for shows, and they get ridiculously popular, and then things like BYOND get attatched to them and more shit happends.

Rips are a part of BYOND life, it's just how everything goes; But why cant we have rips of games made by people who thought of the game itself? Why do people have to try to make something of an image thought up by another mind?

Eh....Just some thoughts....
