The point you're completely missing is that joining the military IS a choice. I don't understand; you say our soldiers are basically slaves, and then you belittle us because we aren't soldiers. You have a lose-lose situation here.
|
Yes, it is a choice. And it's slavery.
I understand when you say that slaves didn't have a choice. But, once you join the military, you don't have a choice from that point on. |
Well that's an oxymoron, because the term "slavery" requires it to not be a choice.
|
I don't think Americans understand that war was inevitable. If it isn't fought over there, it'll be here. Assuming you're American of course.
Oh, and. "the King actually fought along with his army" The writers of the constitution of American made it so the President WASN'T a "king." He may be commander-in-chief, but he has many other roles to fulfill along with military. Slavery? Psh, to you maybe. But, in my opinion it's called "disciple" something most children in America's society today lack badly, which is again, my opinion. |
I belittle you because you talk so greatly of them, but then you say you wouldn't become a soldier.
I don't understand that. |
Grevious, its quite fucking simple. I respect them for doing something I wouldn't.
|
If my country NEEDED me to defend these freedoms for the future generations, I absolutely would.
|
Grevious, there's something you've forgot.
It is illegal for Soldiers to just say "I don't want to do this". Of course they get locked up, they signed up for a job, they aren't supposed to question or make orders unless they are an officer rank. Any sensible person knows this when they sign up, that they are a government tool, their job is to hold a gun, and if necessary or told to, to fire it. Soldiers are not allowed to take political sides, they follow orders or they are taken out the military and locked up in case they try to attack in some kind of "revenge". Its quite simple really. Don't like it? That's how military works, an army can't just have people going "I don't agree with this war". That's not a soldiers place. |
You really need to get off the "Michael Moore" crap. I've felt this way even before that video.
|
"That's not a soldiers place."
That's it. A soldier really doesn't have a place. |
"He respects them for having the courage to protect the country and for doing things he doesn't have the guts to"
You think everyone in the army has "guts"? Then why is there AWOL? Why would a brave man stop fighting for his country? |
"That's it. A soldier really doesn't have a place."
Exactly, they don't, they work for the government. Its what separates Soldiers from militants. They can go be a militant if they feel like it. |
everyone stop and listen to me for this one post please. i have a few things to say on this matter
to grevious: um when you join the military you join by signing a contract. The contract tells you perfectly well the rules and regulations. I dont think you should belittle those that died in the last 230 years so that you could enjoy the wonderful freedoms americans have. but then again it is america, and you have the right to freedom of speech so i only hope you will open your eyes, even if just a little, since no one can do anything but try and persuade you with reasoning. to all: and to all you people insulting him, i understand your outrage at his opinions but he has the right to belive them, flawed as they may be. and do you know why he has that right? because millions died to give him this right. |
Why would a brave man stop fighting for his country? quite possibly when unreasonable orders are given |
