So, I noticed this NBOTLS fiasco going on, and I'm a bit confused by the situation, but I'm filling in the blanks, as I've been around for about three other big source leaks.
All I've really got to say about this one is: "Hah!"
Serves him right! The dumb bastard totally deserves it, and frankly, The entire situation only serves to prove a single thing: NEVER TRUST YOUR MAPPER.
Later!

The mapper should only ever be given a seperate project with the icon files and a single dm file for the turfs and objects. Which no other code but their icon relation. Then you can just plug in the map file and compile. And if it's stolen the only thing lost is icons which will no doubt be ripped via screenshot.

Popping in to say that it's not terribly difficult to edit maps even without any source code, too. :D

i stil don't get it, what did we/the mapper do? steal the source code? make players go away? :C

And thus, another programmer fails one of the not-really-required-but-EXTREMELY-useful skill of... common sense.
Why do they call it common when it ain't so? >_< |
I don't get why people have 'mappers', I can map my game well enough as anyone can. :\

Someone should make a 'mapping' library. A library that plugs into your game and on start up, generates the right kind of files that you can then zip up and send to a mapper (if you have one. I agree with GDT, I can 'map' fine by myself, or even write a chunk of DM to map for me =P) without compromising anything. Or something like that.

It was started by me. I am the person who did it. WorldWeaver helped. Nobody else do doing anything but spreading it around, for which I am happy about.
