I've had the worst luck with computers in the last few years. My new one, which I've had about 18 months, died on me now. As soon as you plug it in, the fan on the CPU comes on, and thats it. No drive noise, no video, and you can't turn the system itself off, without pulling the plug. Not good.
I've tried inumberable things to try and get it functional, but nothing seems to work. I think my motherboard fried again, which is the same problem I had with my previous computer. The really annoying thing is that I bought a prebuilt system, and the motherboard seems to be permanently attached to the case, so I can't even just replace it. *sigh*
Well, thats my post from the public library for now :P Hopefully I'll get something figured out soon.

As soon as you plug it in, the fan on the CPU comes on, and thats it. Try the power button ^^ (jk) |
I know your pain. Electric storm took its tole. I had my comp off of a surge protector because I moved and I couldn't stand it any longer. Against all my better judgment I plugged it in... took a nap...:( woke up to find my love gone forever. The mother board fried along with the 3.4 ghz processor... Now I am back on a pre historic laptop.. So don't feel bad your not the only one with bad luck.

Cowdude: Heh :P Actually, the power button is completely useless. The fan stays on and nothing else does, until I pull the plug.
ACWraith: Um, yeah... Well, some of them are. I don't think the drive itself is the problem though, so once I get something functional, I should be able to pull everything off of it. Thanks to the rest of you. Well, except you Texter. :P I hope to get something together shortly. |
