Well, I learned that guy's name was LeVar Christensen, and that wasn't the last of the terrible commercials he made. But check out how he got his ass kicked in the election:

Jim Matheson (DEM)
59.01%
Lavar Christensen (REP)
37.37%
W. David Perry (CON)
1.48%
Bob Brister (GRN)
1.43%
Austin Sherwood Lett (LIB)
0.7%
Matheson was having a victory party far before the counting was even over.
Matheson's ads went something like this: "I prevented nuclear testing in nearby nevada", "I support local control of schools", and "I cross party lines to get important bills passed."
....and LeVar's ads: "Don't let Democrats take over congress", and "I'm a family man and a reagan republican. Vote me, 'cause you wouldn't be caught dead voting democrat.".
And suprise, he's the only republican that lost the election in highly conservative Utah.
