The problem doesn't occur when I'm not playing Eternia Battlegrounds
Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked?: This is clearly a new rendition of Eternia, however on the original Eternia this is not an issue. (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)

Just so the bug is known and told about clearly I will attempt to explain it better.
Anytime you go to move your character, it switches the keyboard to texting, you can -still- move around, and for some reason even dash using the space bar. However if you want to basic melee or use skills in the hotbar it simply types those keys out in the text bar rather than actually perform the actions. This happens every single time after movement, whether you are in battle, or not. This makes it impossible to kite while fighting to avoid spells, aoes, skill shots, or just get away from someone using melee in general which can pose as a serious inconvenience. I hope this bug gets fixed sometime in the near future.

Either upgrade to the latest beta version or the latest stable version of BYOND, it's a bug with a specific version of the beta.
