I know there has been TONS of posts about religion. But im going to bring up some great points. And think about them.

- There were many diffrent versions of the Bible, the one you will see in church and in hotel rooms is the king james version. How could there be different versions if the bible is supposed to be the words of GOD.

- Has there ever been any proof what so ever that GOD, or Jesus exist?

- If you believe in GOD, then you should believe in Beowulf, the fairy tales, ghosts. The idea of GOD is crazier then all of those.

- Dont you think it is possible that early humans made GOD up for a reason of existence, or to control the human race from being completly evil and commiting crimes every day, because if they did, they would go to Hell(If there wasnt a Hell, or a Heaven what point is there of being a good person).

now lets look at some things with the bible.

-Why did Jesus command us to hate our parents and children (Luke 14:26)? Why did God try to kill Moses immediately after Moses agreed to free the Israelites (Ex 4:24-26)? If abortion is wrong, was it right for the Israelites to murder whole cities of women and children, saving only the virgin girls for use of their warriors (Num 31:17-18)? If false prophecy proves a false prophet, why did Jesus predict that all the Disciples, including Judas, would sit on thrones in Heaven (Matt 19:28)? Didn't Jesus seem tacitly to approve of slavery, even slave-beating (Luke 12:47)?

I can think of many more things, but im to tired right now.
How can the big bang be started?
Why does the concept of a god seem so absurd to you?

Also, the different version thing, it's because when they had the translation from Hebrew to English, a lot of the words were a bit mixed up. The King James Version tried to make them more clear.

Finally, why are you targeting Christianity? Why not Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, or Buddhism?
Im just using christianity as an example because thats what the majority of the byond community is. And I myself am not sure if I believe in GOD or not, I was just pointing out some things i found interesting.

Wrong. The Majority of BYOND is Atheist or Agnostic. The rest are worshipers of Islam and Christianity.
Thats great, but the post isnt about what the majority of BYOND's religion is. How about you stop posting useless stuff, and try to make a discussion about things?

Wanna address my earlier topics, then? Seeing as your the one posting useless nonsense, I merely corrected you.
Actually BigBoid. He does hold quite a few good points.

Also, who says the Big Bang was the beginning of the universe. I'm still sticking to my theory.

This existance is the result of nothing happening. If something had happened, than this existance wouldn't have been created. But because nothing happened, here we are. Ta-da.
Quite easy to follow really. And explains the non-existance of God and the impossibility of the Big Bang.
<_<
Tibby just lost me forever.
How can you follow christianity which has that many loop holes in it, it loses it's commical value and just becomes pathetic half way, but you can't follow my simple three sentence belief?
The concept of a god is absurd because I control my life, not some divine, immortal being who isn't even tangible.
I don't believe in religion. I just don't see how you said that something came from nothing.
I only dislike the every day Christian because they don't stress the importance of the environment and world we live in, but instead put stress on a possible life after this one. I'm pretty sure it states in the beginning of the bible that everything on this Earth was put here for us. That's just a selfish way to look at the world.

But you know, it's worth it to put faith into something that may or may not exist if it makes you feel like your life has a purpose. If that's what it takes to motivate you to do something good for this world, then so be it. Many of the greatest people who've ever lived have belonged to some religion or another. You really shouldn't try to convert people. Let them decide what they put faith in. Why put doubt into their minds? There's enough going on every day to put doubt into people's minds.

Religion is good. Loud-mouthed obnoxious in-your-face dirt bag extremists are not.

Don't let that get to you though. Nothing good will come from arguing with these sorts of people, and you'll only end up offending people who aren't involved.
Hitler was christian =P
Although he did do good orignally, he brought Germany out of the depression faster than any other leader. His ideals changed along the way <.<

Einstein was Jewish. :S

Religion has cuased so many deaths Kami. The early crusades, and today more then ever. People kill each other over religion. I think its becuase they believe it to strongly. They have so much faith, they refuse to accept anyone elses opinion. Which is evil.
The Big Bang is certainly possible, Boid, and we have masses of evidence that it happened. I won't repeat it here - go looking around, you can probably find threads where I provided some examples.

What caused it? We don't know. It may well be unknowable. But why insert a God there? Isn't "we don't know" a better answer then "here's an unfalsifiable being that defies everything we know about how the universe works. Also, it's a god-of-the-gaps"? If the universe had an ultimate beginning, isn't there always going to be some event that was uncaused? How can you talk about a cause for the Big Bang when there wasn't any time 'before' it for something to cause it in? You can't consider the concept of 'before' the Big Bang, because it's quite simple illogical - the Big Bang was the start of time and space. There was no time 'before' it happened - and thus, no idea of 'before' or 'after'.

Jp needs to like..... stop winning religious arguments all the time.
Well, Im going to leave it like this. We will probobly never know the truth about GOD, or the universe, and maybe we shouldnt. Maybe we cant handle it. Maybe its just to mind bogoling to accept. Becuase you guys and I know that whatever started everything, something had to, something just cant apear out of nowere. Something Big, crazy even.

(But now im thinking, then how could GOD apear from nothing? something had to create GOD, he cant just apear or always have been.) ....Ah, When i start to think this deep, it just freezes my mind. We will never no the answer.
Why the hell do you always capitalise the word 'god'?

Why can't something just appear out of nowhere? If the universe had a beginning, there has to be an uncaused something sitting at the start of the chain. By Ockham's Razor, it may as well be the Big Bang rather then God.
