Hello
1. do other players get to host my game? If so, how can I avoid that? (how can I be the only one able to host)
2. do other people get access to my game files? If so, can I also avoid that?
3. I've been looking to rent servers for my game. How many players do you think these servers can handle?
I)
E3-1240-V2 3.40GHz
RAM 2GB
SWAP 1024 MB
2 IP addresses
Hard Disk 60GB Raid 10
II)
E3-1240-V2 3.40GHz
RAM 3072MB
SWAP 3072MB
1 IP address
Hard Disk 20GB Raid 10
III)
2x Intel Xeon CPU
2GB DDR3 RAM
50 GB SSD cached Disk
100 Mbps Connection
250GB traffic
IV)
3 vCPU 6.9GHz
4GB DDR3
160GB digital disk
1Gbps Full
Unlimited traffic
S.0 Linux and Windows
Filter + Anti-DDoS
Reboot Panel
Basically, how much RAM, CPU, Disk Space and traffic do I need?

2. No they do not; you would have to provide them the files either directly or through the hub.
3. I think this is too variable to provide you with a definite answer. Factors include programming practices used, what type of the game is being hosted (e.g. it's common on BYOND to have servers of 100+ with less than a fraction actually active at any given time, so CPU remains low 'round the clock), the FPS used in the game, etc.
Something to keep in mind though, is that BYOND only uses a single core as I understand it, so anything more is unnecessary where hosting is concerned.
Hope this helps.
