Naruto Birth of the Legendary Shinobi
by Goditz
Great, this Naruto rip is really bad.
BEST NARUTO GAME ON BYOND!!! See forums and HELP verb for all INFO! Come see what all the fuss is about TODAY! Memebers who rank us get a copy jutsu!!!
Well, this just shows that noobs like to rank nooby games. I mean, someone who can't even spell members. By the looks of it, he added in some members perks without even changing the rip. And isn't the copy jutsu like the basic move?
* BYOND Rank: 3
! That is crazy, how can a rip get this high a ranking?
PLAYER RULES!
1. No complaining about lag or anything in game. You can and will be banned for it.
That's a big harsh. I mean, it's not their fault he has a crappy server.
2. NO SPAM = INSTANT IPBAN.
Uhh, maybe he has a system build to do this automatically. Great... No wonder you have all the noobs here. Anyone who types fast will get banned.
4. NO BUG ABUSE. If you find a bug report it do not abuse it or you will lose your save file.
That is also unfair. Why do 70 people play this game anyway! I mean, it's not their fault if they find a bug in his game. He should check it for bugs himself, lazy bugger.
GM RULES!
Yay, why should he post GM rules on the hub anyway? He should choose GM's that are well behaved.
1. No summoning NPCs.
Well, if he doesn't want this to happen why doesn't he code it in. I mean, I work my butt off on a game, get rank 60, which was really good. Then some no good lazy ripping bastard comes along, does little work and gets rank 3.
5. YOU WILL DO YOUR JOB. Failure to act can and will cost you your position.
Obiously.
6. No staffing on other byond games. If you are unable to devote your time here let me know and I will find someone else that is.
I find that pretty mean. So basically he is saying "Looking for volinteers to give up their life and work as GM!"
I check voters list a few times a week. If you remove your vote I wipe your SAVE!
I tried to find some bad cause in this. It's not really blackmail, though it definently isn't right. Since people get a reward for adding his game to favourites. Though still, that is just crazy. People shouldn't play this game.
Page Goditz for the ranking members forum password!!!
Then goto http://com3.runboard.com/bnbotls.f20.t286 and file out form for your reward.
This must also be done before being allowed to join Star.
Well, that explains the undeserving rank!
Everyone who is reading this, DO NOT RANK THIS GAME! Support me with this. This recent incident has gave me the urge to really kill this game, laterally of course. Right now I am creating an awesome game which will rule them all and wipe this one off the boards. We need really good games on BYOND, not low grade rips like this one!

Heh, good job.
I won't reply to most of it, since I know I am wrong on some areas. I've just seen that the vast community of BYOND gamers, no not people like Lummox, though the "noobs" and other people of BYOND play a game depending on it's ranking. They don't care if it's ripped, they will still play it. This guy has exploited these people. It should be something like "Pay me a subscription and you get a reward" not "Vote for my game and get a reward". Thats like John Howard, PM of Australia saying "If you vote for me I'm going to give you all $200 and take off your taxes". Of course everyone would vote for him not because he is a good prime minister, though because he is giving them this stuff. I did go too hard on him, though I just needed to emphasis some of the reasons why he didn't get that ranking because his game was good. I took a go at his hub because it was just funny. I call it a "newb" hub, since its information is all out of order and some of it is irrelevant. The hub is apart of the game, and you wouldn't see a hub like that on a good game. Also, his overall force he has over his players is amazing. Basically, if a GM gets a life, boom, they are gone. If a player innocently trips on a bug, his save gets wiped. If a player thinks another game deserves a better ranking, boom, his save is also wiped. If a GM finds this summon verb in his commands tab and accidently summons a NPC, boom, he is fired. That's what the ranking system's for - when the hub becomes so full of games you couldn't possibly sample them all yourself to see whether or not you enjoy them, the ranking system comes into play. By taking other peoples' opinions of what games they liked, you can use your free time more effectively to play games that are more likely to be good, rather than those that aren't.
Of course, it all falls apart when the vast majority of the ones who rank games are barely out of diapers. Still, the idea is sound. Introducing bribes into the mix changes the Top-Ranked list from a list of games that many people liked to a list of games that reward the most players for votes. There is a difference there, whether you see it or not. He's strict, yes, but like I said before, he said he'd ban for bug abuse, not simply finding a bug. There's nothing innocent about knowlingly exploiting a bug. Your Prime Minister example just points out flaws with Australia's voting system, rather than reinforcing your point. Sure, voting usually works like that in the real world, but that doesn't mean the result is an accurate tally of who the majority believe is most qualified to lead. People will almost always choose the more immediate reward over the long-term one. So as long as games are allowed to reward for votes or penalize for the lack thereof, the ranking system will be corrupt. |

It's even stated in that list of stuff you tried to tear apart. 4. NO BUG ABUSE. If you find a bug report it do not abuse it or you will lose your save file. If I were hosting a game and fount out that someone found a bug, but abused it instead of reporting it I'd ban him altogether instead of wiping him. |
Yeah, that "GM Rules" thing is a load of pig-swallow.
Also; ADT_CLONE said "GM Rules on the hub" All staff rules should be kept out of the sight of the general public. Otherwise, players can infact, see how the staff are allowed to act, and just sit border line anoying the staff. I personally think, staff hired for a game, should be well-known players of said game. So that way, they're already accustomed to the format of the game, how the owner works and what is expected. But that's just me. |
I just logged on and what do I see?
The world has been restored. There will be a Genin exam in 2 minutes... Hokage, Sekehi would like to announce: (Village Say)(Hyuuga)- DragonX: Sekehi you know i was teabagging your mum the horny fucking milf slut Hokage, Sekehi would like to announce: i'm going to motherfucking ban the fucker. The world has been restored. Info: Medawolf(Medawolf) has logged in... OG, Devil would like to announce: you ure hes not a imitator to? There will be a Genin exam in 1 minute... The world has been restored. Fabulous GM's this game has, hey. So much for their rule on respecting others: 6. Be mature and respectfull OF EVERYONE AT ALL TIMES. If not all I got to say is trouble makers usally succeed in finding trouble. Oh, I just got muted right as I logged on. How ironic. "By pressing ok you agree to respect the staff and follow all the rules" - Tell the staff that! This is getting funnier by the second! "Please type in your name: _____________________ OK Cancel" Being the curious person I am, I clicked cancle. Now I am an invisible being with no name. Yay! I wonder if they can ban me now. More tales coming your way as I explore more into this game. ADT_CLONE |
"you find the one /actual/ attrocity in this guy's hub entry, and you're on the fence as to whether or not it's even wrong." Hahaha! I love that! Being the curious person I am, I clicked cancle. Now I am an invisible being with no name. lol yeah, that pretty much sums this game up. |
I wonder if they can ban me now. My game has a verb to boot anything without names :D (for people who just put blanks in the name box; or just one space) but yeah a cancel button? don't you have to add "as null|text" to the prompt to get that? :O wow |
Yeah, so he was pretty stupid and probably doesn't have much coding experience. Also, why should you have a verb for that? Just check if the name is null when they create it and ask them to create a new name:
if(isnull(name)||name=="")return ADT_CLONE |
or "while" so it repeats :D
I logged in there earlier and I have to mention that the Help verb didn't help me at all :O I couldn't find anything telling me how to train really, and there was one Help on techniques that was flooded with: [Technique]: see [NPC] How is that help? =O |
Seriously, I agree with you all the way. All these anime rips are all the same. They shouldn't beat games like Castle and Seika, these guys have worked hard to achieve their rank, and this bum makes all their hard work look like crap. DOWN WITH GODITZ!

2. NO SPAM = INSTANT IPBAN.
Wait a second...so you get banned if you don't spam? |
http://games.byond.com/hub/CorruptionProductions/ NarutoCorruptionofNinjas
At one time on the hub he said not to go on this game or he would wipe our save. lets do it just to annoy him XD EDIT:I tried being a guy called Naruto, but:NO NPC names STOP TRING NOW OR RISK IP BAN! lol |
Because the vast majority of BYOND's player base consists of preteens and early teens who apparently enjoy games of this quality and type.
I didn't see him say "if you type fast, it will be considered Spam." There's pretty much nothing unreasonable about asking players not to spam. No anti-spam system is 100% effective. Since you're apparently a programmer yourself, you ought to know this better than anyone. Any halfway decent ruleset is going to have regulations on spamming.
Bug abuse isn't considered /finding/ a bug - it's considered exploiting an unintended effect in the game unfairly for your own personal gain. Most reasonable administrators have the same position on bugs, including the bulk of the more well respected, quality coders and GMs on BYOND.
"Well behaved" varies from person to person. Having a set of GM rules for your administration to follow as guidelines is only reasonable. You can't expect everyone to think precisely like yourself - so instead you write a set of guidelines that loosely (or specifically) define how you'd like your game to be moderated. Even "well behaved" people might not know that you want spammers to be warned once before being banned, or that killing newbies isn't allowed.
The "obious" often needs to be stated, just so everyone's on the same page.
Moderating properly's a fairly demanding job. While I agree that his restrictions go a bit far, it's his server and he can choose GMs as he likes.
I find this the most amusing out of your rather entertaining post - you find the one /actual/ attrocity in this guy's hub entry, and you're on the fence as to whether or not it's even wrong. It's a heavy-handed threat, pure and simple, and improperly skews the ranking system. Rewards for voting, or even penalties for not voting, bribe votes out of individuals.
I find it ludicrous that I have to defend this idiot, but you attacked him for all the wrong reasons, and I can't figure out why? Why go after this rip for outranking your "awesome" game, and not the other dozens that rank ahead of you? The only viable reason I can come up with is a case of bandwagon syndrome. Everyone else was complaining about this guy (and rightfully so), so you decided you ought to jump on the bandwagon and do it to... only, you have no clue what you're talking about.
You've criticized him for setting fairly reasonable rules for his game, which is a testament to either your inexperience with actually moderating an unruly playerbase, or proof that you've no comprehension of what a game really needs to run smoothly. You also made fun of his inability to spell properly, when you've made at least as many spelling and grammar errors in your post. For once, the word "hypocrite" actually applies.
If you're going to flame a game, do it right. Don't make me come down here and point out the numerous holes in your argument again.
