I was watching a live game show on channel 11. The station was CW11. The game show was called Play To Win. In order to win you had to call in live and say the answer. The prize money for this particular game was $4,000 and I knew the answer. The answer was Italy. I tried calling from my cell phone number several times and a recording told me I cannot call that number from my line. That is friggin' weird. So I try to call from my roomates number but the same crap happens. I goto the website and guess what, after I filled everything in it says "Thank you for participating." Participate for what? Filling in my age and E-Mail? I never even got to answer the question, it was not there.
I think this is a friggin' scam. I think when you call in and it does not work they still charge you $1.50 per call and that is how they make their money. If I see it on my phone bill I swear to God I am going over there and killing every one of them. Someone called in and said they cannot speak English that well. My ASS! He spoke it fine and then made himself go off track to make it seem like he was bad at English, then a second later he stopped talking acting like he went off line and they lost him. Ten minutes later someone else calls in with the same EXACT voice but spoke English fine. When he got the answer right and won the $4,000 he did not say a damn word. Then he won an extra $450 on the grand prize game and acted like he did not even care. He never really said anything.
I think this is a scam and they have people on the set call in. God dammit. I needed the money. The $4,000 is the EXACT price I need to pay for crashing into my friends car. Is this a scam or what? I think it is...

Some phonelines can be setup to block calling number ranges. For example, my phone line can't call 1900 numbers.

I never trust those sorts of competitions anyway. They all follow a similar pattern;
Broadcast an insultingly easy question for a large period of time to receive as many calls as possible, then only let the people with incorrect answers through. The presenters are usually annoying as hell too. There was this woman on a live TV quiz here last week, I wanted to strangle her. -_- |

Also, are you sure the show was Live and not a repeat? Yes, I am sure it was live. They do not repeat live game shows because there is no audience and no competitors on the show. The viewers have to call in to answer the question so it has to be live. Bahammat wrote: The presenters are usually annoying as hell too. They have to be annoying though because they have to talk for every single second of the show seeing as how there is no audience at the show nor any people playing the game on the show. There are only viewers. Think about it, if she stopped talking for a split second, it would seem awkward because there would be dead silence seeing as how there is nobody else there but the camera men and possibly the fake callers on the set.
