New NPCS!
Guards: Guards are buyable NPCs that can be used to protect you or your establishment. Some features of guards include custom-set patrol areas, the ability to attack enemies/different races, and they are even able to attack players from your own race with the "Village Enemy" marker. There are different types of guards. For example, there are personal purchasable guards, and there are town guards, which town officers are free to assign to patrol.
Other town NPC's: Apothecary, Charter Seller.
Charter sellers sell town charters, and can be found at the original "base" town of each race. Town charters can allow anybody to form their own town! NPCs will flock to your town after establishment, depending on your town's success. A large, well-built, and successful town will draw large crowds of NPCs, while a poorly built town will draw very few.
Mutamid Desert Dungeon
The Mutamid Desert Dungeon is a new map section just created, and as it's name suggests, it is a dungeon in the desert.
The Mutamid Desert Dungeon will be a large part of Progeny, and will feature enemies/monsters unique to the dungeon, as well as unique items.
The legendary, almost mythical, ICON UPDATE:
This icon update was crucial to Progeny. As you can see, we now have:
PLAYER STATES
The heck? Is that a cannon? (May be just a placeholder.)
NOTE: Hud objects were removed for this screenshot.
(Placeholder guards and sand.)
Many more small icons like weapons, spells and such done, so more screenies to come, but for tonight that is all, so good night, and thanks for supporting Spector.

I've been following your progress with this game and I'm pretty impressed. It looks really well thought out and such. I suggest, however, not using things such as cannons in such a medieval-based game. Besides, why go with cannons when you can have ballistas(giant arrow-like shooter) or trebuchets(boulder slinger)?
|
cannons are a big part of mideavle defending. but not so much attacking. they did use thos weapons in exophus' post as offencive and cannons as defences but more on the ballistas and trebuches coz there cheeper to make and the ammo is eayser for trebuches.
|
Actually, cannons were not used in medieval times, it was trebuchets, so Exophus is correct, it just didn't bug me that they were used.
|
Personally, I don't really like what Wild did with the cannon. It doesn't look like a medeival cannon to me.
Just a second critique, you might want to download the updated version, that I spent all that time sending over =), where we got rid of those walls ugly walls(red brick in medeival times? Wtf? =P) before taking screens, Wild. |
Yeah I know, medeival cannons look more like this:
http://replicagunsswords.com/weapons_gallery/images_backup/ t_1490_02.jpg Other than that, the base is beautiful and I like the new trees. Also, the cannon is only the most advanced seige weapon(extremely deadly and hard to build) so do expect trebuchets, ballistas and such. |
That cannon looks like a minature, but close up. The reason the cannon in the game doesn't look like a medieval cannon is because there were no medieval cannons as far as I'm aware. ;P
Anyways, when testing time comes around, give me a call if you want. |
The reason the cannon in the game doesn't look like a medieval cannon is because there were no medieval cannons as far as I'm aware. ;P Actually, the chinese had cannons very early, but yeah Euros didn't have them for a while. We may move toward trebuchet's more. |
...That looks more like Artillery.
http://www.sfondideldesktop.com/Images-Misc/Military/ Artillery/Artillery.jpg Not sure what time preiod this is set in but I'd suppose that's supposed to be something closer to http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/853554/2/ istockphoto_853554_medieval_canon_close_up.jpg? |
Oh Exophus, if we were to contact you we'd need your contact info.
