Now I don't write this to sound racist, I mean I have a black stepdad and half of my family is black, but this still urks me.

For the last few weeks I've seen commercials for Tyler Perry hosting the Black Movie Awards... WTF!? Where does equality come in? If we had White Movie Awards it'd be taken as racism and it would be shut down in an instant.

Now I don't get how "equality" is defined... Affirmative Action will give a black man a job over me, Grants for college that I couldn't get, A whole MONTH for black history: I hear complaints and jokes about how it's the shortest month of the year, but we can't have a month to look at the positive achievements of white people... no, the only thing we hear about white people is the bad things we've done... And now TV... First BET (a WET would definately be shut down) and now Black Movie Awards...

I mean I'm happy for achievements in human kind, in the black communities, in any community... But what happened to that equality that people marched for and died for?

I just think it's funny, wrong of course, but funny. Any other race can get away with a racially segregated event, except the white community, in the United States.

From this moment on, I will refer to Febuary as "History Month", screw segregation!
in my school we have

Chinese Student Union
Black Student Union
Latino Student Union
Filipino Club
Afghan club
etc etc

even religious clubs

but no white club

because people would find it 'racist'

.... screw that

WHITE POWER!
Whoa, the BSU is up in your school too? I tried joining BSU this year, but they don't allow cool asians inside.

='(. Screw Fremont.

Forreals though, bluhd. I don't see a special month for other races, only black history month. That's so racist.

Don't you have some building to bomb or some innocent people to kill or something?
you're racist
your stepdad sheds a tear ='(
Welcome to the real world, where everything isnt so cut and dry. There is also going to be diversity whether its 10 or 100 years from now. Equality was only an ideal created to make people feel comfortable with each other. Though I myself have no problem with any type of award show, whether it be black, white, latino, chinese, etc centered. Heck, more power to them. Because thats where that specific ethnic group feel comfortable. Sadly the ideal will remain a fragment of the mind because not everyone is willing to give in to the idea of total comfort among races.
I should probably start by saying that people are not born equal, and that is a fact.

These specialist groups only exist, because they are considered a statistic minority, which calls for greater representation. However that still doesn't explain why people would think making a "white group" is racist. That is a whole nother problem on it's own.
We had the KKK?
People should realize that their background makes them who they are, and not the color of their skin.

I hate it when people play the race card. >:\

Because the white people own the racially segregated events, so more power/money to us.

what

no we don't, idiot
Cavern, you should die for being completely wrong.
They always throw around the argument that white history is studied all year long, and black history is underrepresented. That may have been true 50 years ago, but anyone in a modern history class learns about all relevant history, no matter what race. US history mostly has to do with Europeans because they founded it, but as time goes on this will change.

When the US was founded, being from a different part of Europe mattered as much as being from a different part of the world did. Now all "whites" are clumped together. They no longer tie themselves to their ancestry; they only tie themselves to their current residence. Most Europeans were once persecuted for being from a different country than someone else. (ex. The Irish). They didn’t make a big deal about it and create annoying public awareness programs. They just lived their life and worked to make their lives better. They just assimilated into the melting pot of America. If you want to keep all your old culture then you shouldn’t move here.

My point is, if ethnic groups want to be considered equal then they shouldn't separate themselves. They think it brings them power, but the best thing they can do is to just be an American. Sure there are still some racist people, but the majority of the US could care less. However, when you get immigrants waving their old countries flag, it causes people to get upset. If you are in the US, you are American. We don’t need a black history month; we don’t need a Pacific Islander month (my school used to make a big deal out of this one also). These ideas are outdated and just cause a bigger rift between people. There are too many different ethnic groups to have a month for each. Why don’t they just have a month for celebrating the coming together of all cultures into what has become the US.
Well, everytime I see a segregation event or whatever, it is on MTV, VH1, ABC, NBC, Fox, etc. and all of the creators of those stations are white, and they pretty much have the lead in what they say on what goes on their station. Also, have you ever seen the names in the credits of those segregated events? The producers, executive producers, etc. etc. they are all famous, well-known people, and they are all white from what I have seen. Did you know white people own BET? Oh yeah, and the BET awards are produced by white people, read the credits more often. The producers to those shows are very well-known and extremely white.
Exactly.
That's why I decided to call Febuary "History Month"
So true. A few weeks ago, this black kid called me a stupid cracker, (for no reason. Just a random walk by insult.) and I called him a dumbass ni... well, you get the idea. He was ub3r 1337 mad. (I seriously didn't mean to say that, but for some reason, it slipped.) I'm suprised I wasn't shot.
I see nothing wrong with calling him a dumbass nigger. It is the exact equivelent, is it not? Why should he be offended, given that he said the exact thing?
at my school

anyone can say 'nigga'

but apparantly only black people can say 'nigger'

PS

During practice, our QB handed it off to our RB who happens to be black, and oddley enough as i persued him down the field

i felt like a cop chasing a black guy xD

im terrible xD
