I am looking for anyone who might be interested in writing areas for my MUD to help expand the content. I am looking for someone who has experience such as writing areas for previous MUDs or even a prose writing background. Basically, anyone who knows how to write concise, interesting descriptions.

For those who are not familiar, areas are much like the setting in a story. They are made up of "rooms" and provide a description of the area where the game takes place. A typical room might look like:

A Dark Forest
Exits: NW

Shadowy trees loom about you, their twisted grey bark leering like gnarled faces. Above, withered branches grasp at the sky while below unseen things scrabble and scurry amongst the ancient, tangled roots. A worn, dusty path winds through the trees to the north and west.

Ideally, rooms have a descriptive, but brief, name and a colorful 3-5 line description. Specifically, the areas should follow the theme of the MUD, which is dark fantasy. Horror would be okay (as long as the technology level was pseudo medieval), as would more standard fantasy (minus the frolicking elves and dour dwarves, naturally).
I'd love you if you made this a room:

Dark Room
Exits: none

A wild manticore appears and rips off your head, thus killing you. You also lose the game.
Ah, the old death trap. Yeah, I have never been a big fan of DTs. Is that a particular reference to something (the wild manticore)?
I think it was some goofy choose-your-own-adventure flash game. The manticore was EVERYWHERE. You could also get killed by Pi if you found it.

"It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue."

Excellent! Do you need anymore info? I can give you the area formatting conventions of the MUD (IE how it looks in a txt saved file) Or you can simply type up an area in a format you like and I can convert it. All that is really important is that rooms have a name and description, a list of any contents, and you can specify a sector type (IE city, forest, swamp, etc.) if you wish. Any special effects you would like can also be noted (such as no fighting allowed, dark, etc.).

If you wish to have mobs and objects, just make sure to give them a name, a visual short description, and a long descrption. Special functions can be assigned as well (such as for containers, teleporters, etc.). Let me know if you need any more info. (I am trying to keep the requirements as simple as possible for builders so they can focus on wordcraft!)

My e-mail is [email protected] . Make sure any e-mails have a descriptive title so they don't get shuffled to junk mail with all the junk Viagra and mortgage spam!
