I just checked the thesaurus for any word close to epic and I like the name "Doughty"

Just wait, give it time but this community will somehow screw you over, insult your work, put you down, or otherwise disappoint each and every one of you. The only ones who remain here are those who like to insult beginners, steal others work for their own gain, or seclude themselves from the rest of the world and hide in their little byond forum.
No matter what I say, realize that you are harming your own community by running away projects and people who are prepared to contribute to it. Not that you care, cause you'd just steal their work for your own material gain anyway. Enjoy your pathetic, empty, meaningless lives and your broken community of broken people. I know for a fact I showed Yut Put a secret showing of my project and it is pretty obvious he used my ideas for his own. It is flattery to me, but it is shameful that this community is still full of nothing but petty thieves who only care about their own gain. It may not matter to you, because it isn't you, but one day it will be. I still have Pondera, technically it is still a viable project, but I think I will go reproduce it on a better engine, with more capable functions and better people and when/if I finally ever do release it, it will be the game you are all playing but won't even know it. It might even be VR while you are stuck in the past in a browser or on Steam, giving money to awful Gabe. |
Yut... is this true? Was Epoch AERProduction's idea and you merely stealed it, bro?
I trusted you, man. I foretold the day you would become hokage. I EVEN CHERISHED YOUR BUTT CHEEKS. AND FOR WHAT? FRAUD AND DECEPTION? SO YOU COULD TURN AROUND AND TARNISH THAT WHICH WAS INTENDED TO BE SACRED AND ETERNAL? |

Oh no, ~~~ideas~~~. I haven't played his game, but I've never heard of Epoch as being innovative or revolutionary, just fun and solid. A collection of existing ideas done well. And if that is the case, then he ~~~stole~~~ an idea that you had ~~~stolen~~~ in kind. The fact of the matter is that Yut Put completed something while you did not, and now you're one of the crabs in the bucket trying to pull the others down. Why did you not bring this Secret Project up before if your Stolen Ideas were so precious to you?
Ideas are rarely valuable or important; it's actual work done with those ideas that matter. Yut Put had the work put in to show for it, you don't. End of story. |

Hey look! Lummox managed to do the O thingo and the forums didn't mess it up for him. Oh great and mighty overlord, teach me your secrets. (I legitly noticed it just now...) |

As much as I understand the feeling of having your work put down or people bashing you, All I've seen from you in this thread has been bashing YutPut and BYOND as a whole. All the power to you if you manage to decide on a different engine but the engine doesn't make the game. I work with other developers on the Unreal Engine now and I can guarantee you that no developer will want to work with someone who carries such an attitude around. Just to be clear I've only seen your posts in this thread and I'm just going off that but it doesn't help you either way. When you release a game on another engine the players, publishers, and whoever else you decide to connect with will without a doubt find your old profiles and posts and it could have a negative effect on your professional appearance. EDIT: Also nobody who does business cares that Steam has a monopoly on the PC gaming market. It's a great opportunity to reach millions of potential customers and it's going to be that way for a long time. If you don't make it through Greenlight or don't have a direct partnership through a publisher you can always go through Itch.io and GOG. If you want to be in VR and not end up a novelty you'll want to develop for the HTC Vive which is partnered with Steam. |

Steam has a refund feature and people are going to abuse it unless you manage to keep people entertained for at least 2 hours.
I recall reading this blog by a indie developer I adore, he said as a small time developer his goal is not to sell a game but to sell his own persona with the game, a good likable persona is good marketing, a really good measure against piracy, it also helps people pay full price, why else should they pay full price for a product they can otherwise get cheaper? You know how some people are fine with pirating games from big companies but not indie (EA games receive a ton of hate), they have all sorts of reasons why that's ok. The better person you are, the less reasons others have to screw you over. It's also naive to think that once Epoch was released to steam success was assured, I bet Yut is working around the clock manning the forums, supporting his creation and the customers who are enjoying it. I posted a question over there and he replied within 5 minutes, thumbs up yut. |

I kinda understand where AERProductions is coming from BUT don't kill meh peps, I don't agree with his attitude though but some of what his speaking about is quite true regarding the community we live in today, most of it but not all of it there is a selected few that deserve respect and admiration.
Other then that its just toxicity, drama, egos, etc. I myself got over it and don't even bother to respond to those people tbh so I just ignore em because if they don't respect me I'm not going to respect them and thats pretty much where we leave things. That been said talking about how bad it is does have a negative effect on all of us, but theres seems to be almost to 0% fucks given by the community to come up with a plan on fixing this issue. We need more moderaters better moderaters, Forum Warnings, Forum bannings, Better options for Threads and Posts, and as it goes this won't happen because its been like this for years so I don't see lummox ever changing the way Forums are handled or how Community settings/features are handled. |
Feeding the horse only results in more horseshit. Well said. You know you are doing something right when the haters come out of the woodwork. |

lol epoch is apparently a pondera rip It's going to be super dope. It's going to be in virtual reality and you're going to have to spend $800 on a Vive just to play it. And the most exciting detail is that you won't even know you're playing it. it will be the game you are all playing but won't even know it. So I'm assuming the game will be similar to the Matrix where you don't even realize it's all a fake virtual world until you take the red pill and Developous shows you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Speaking of Developous, his idea also sounds like the Nexus! Oh and almost forgot: it won't be on Steam because AER will not and I repeat WILL NOT be just another cog in the corrupt Gaben monopoly machine. It's sad that he's the only person around here with the balls to stick it to the man. |

One thing I will say, is that I've been providing a lot of support to steam users that have been having trouble getting the game working, and I even played Epoch for an hour last night with a guy who was stuck in Huzza.
Steam users have been absolutely amazing and have given me better information and feedback about BYOND's software and hardware compatibility issues than years of BYOND users have. They are super grateful for help and helping them isn't frustrating at all --They are semi-competent, and when they aren't, they are willing to learn new things without giving up every time someone uses a word they don't understand. Helping people in that community is a god damn great experience. Helping people in this community is pretty much a nightmare 50% of the time. Entitlement is rampant here, and we're all on a high sodium diet. Food for thought. For anybody looking for a lower-stress, lower-sodium avenue to be in, a Steam launch and dealing with your community off hub will do you a lot of good. I'm glad that Yut's dragged me along for the ride as Mr. Fix it, because I've learned an awful lot from this experience. ...As for epoch stealing from Pondera... You might as well be trolling, AER. I've been nice to you thus far, but you are going right off the deep end with that. Pondera had like, negative three features when you gave up. Nobody leaked it. Nobody would be interested in how far you got because you literally gave up with no progress on it and you know it. Seriously. Stop. STAHP. It was literally Rise of Heroes source with a bunch of libraries bolted on. |
