A few games I used to really love playing on BYOND no longer work on newer versions. I can't find out when they quit working, but they don't now and haven't for about a month, at least.
I installed a very old version of BYOND (354.something), which only works as a Guest (due to not being able to connect to the pager), but the games started up.
The developers have sadly long since left BYOND.
Playing as a Guest obviously has problems, though.
Is it my only option to play older games that no longer work?

Blocking guest keys was always a terrible and lazy idea... So disappointed that it's starting to bite us in the ass. Which game(s) are you trying to play?

The link on the hub is dead, but I can get it to boot from old host files I had on my hard-drive. Only on older versions of BYOND, though. http://www.byond.com/games/SupremeJake/ MegamanBattleOverTheNetwork Works fine on 354 (and I assume other older versions of BYOND), returns a "Bad world" error on newer versions. Both of them generate a "guest.sav" as a save file for the Guest account on 354. I know on newer versions Guest accounts are more complicated, like "Guest-34545476764" and so forth. Is it safe to say the "guest.sav" will always work as a Guest account and it won't generate a new Guest each time like the newer versions of BYOND? EDIT: http://www.byond.com/download/build/451/ 451 seems to have compatibility with the above linked two games, and still has pager access. | |
