Hi everyone! I sure feel like a jackass for making that long post about the blogs disappearing when in fact it seems that they were just reformatted and the CSS was removed. So in order to apologize fr looking like a [foolish person], I present to you an early look at NVS Alpha 6.0! Whee!

In this video I playtest the new AI enemies that will be available to fight against in V6.0. The enemy AI is going to be chosen randomly from the list of available characters that don't require unlocks, so don't plan on seeing any unlockable characters in the mix.

Currently the AI is pretty smart, the skill is about the same as any average player, and I have actually lost to the AI a few times before. The AI is also relentless, don't expect it to back off or give you a break. It will guard, use special moves, attack when in range, and if not, it will close in, it will also dash backwards or attempt to avoid special moves when it has the chance.

You'll also notice some new behavior with the kawarimi special move (S+Down). If your opponent is close by, you'll automatically appear behind them instead of teleporting into the air. This adds some difficulty to dodging special moves, but it also acts as a deterrent against those who would pin you into the corners of the battlefield. Now, you can just use the special move and you'll be out of the corner and they'll be in it!

Some other stuff will be added to the game of course. I'm thinking of adding a few more character but I'm not 100% sure on which to add yet, thus the point of the poll. Anyways, Let me know what you guys want and I'll get busy on adding them. I'll also be adding one more secret character. Bringing the total character count to 10.

I use fraps. Best way to do it is to match the FR to your world FPS. This one is set to 50.

As an extra update I also have made some attributes for the AI, how often they block, how fast they move, how readily they use their special attacks, etc.

Now, not only is the AI a bit more variable, but I can readily pit two AI fighters against each other for your viewing pleasure. So, I will have it so that you can choose fight against AI opponents while waiting for other players to join the server, or, you can give up your spot to fight in order to watch some AI fighters duke it out.

Why do this? Well, most players that login to a server to see that no one is on and they have to wait means that most of them will just log off without attempting to wait for another player. This lowers the overall play-rate of the game and a lot of potential fans leave with a bad taste in their mouth because they didn't even get to play. At least now with the AI fights and AI opponents, people will be able to entertain themselves while they wait for another player to login.

A.I. vs. A.I. has always been my favorite feature of several video games, specifically fighting and RTS games. I am glad for it's inclusion.
Okay, so, I've got the AI code working completely. All I need to do is add the new char and I can release 6.0. Hmm, it looks like Shikamaru is the next char from the current votes o__o
