In reply to A.T.H.K: I was wanting to do a anonymous entry deal, but it would still be easy for someone to find out who's who if everyone's posting updates and streaming progress, so it kind of defeats the purpose. I am liking more so the idea now that it's not just something discussed among myself and Ter. I'll be happy to start the GiaM in April. I'm glad to have any assistance in prizes and/or running of the contest, so I'm sure we can get something done(by we, it probably means you, since I am pretty busy the next few weeks with and outside of work; and am unsure if my minimum experience in the field and rusty-nesses in every language I once dabbled in would help any). @Good Ol' Lummox: I might make a 4k type contest if this one goes over well. Anyone interested in adding to the prize pool is free to do so, we'd just have to organize it all to decide what goes where. I am planning on putting up 150(USD and not a set number, very dependent on what is happening in my life when I decide on final numbers) of my own money to fuel the contest. I was thinking 1st would get $75 2nd getting $50 and third, of course, getting $25. | |
Your prizes need thought of course, I've always like the idea of splitting cash between the top three, but, having a surprise for last place..
If the cash pool was $150 and you had other prizes such as games or goodies you could do something like below. 1st - $50 + game/goodies 2nd - $45 + game/goodies 3rd - $35 Last - $15 | |
Last can have a copy of kane n lynch 2. Or two worlds 2. Maybe ff13. That old unplayable E.T. game? Gag prizes are the best prizes.

What about a prize like "Best rookie entry" that's awarded to highest scoring entry made by anyone who hasn't ever been in the top 3 for a past contest?

It would be nice (since we have a fair few prizes..) Too not limit this to the forums, I'd say 50-70% playing on BYOND would have no idea this is going on. Might be surprised by a dark horse, you never know..

Aren't contests usually announced globally in pager notifications, though?
