My problem is that I have my image but copying it to my dmi file and than deleting the white space causes these horrible white outlines. Is their a way or maybe even going through another program to get the white stuff to be seen as cleared on byond.(even though that would be tedious it might be worth it).
The program i am using is a particle program. So if you have others that can work well with byond i do not mind looking into them

I think you are talking about the transparent alpha channel, which your program probably isn't copying in a way that most other programs can understand.
You should download GIMP if you don't have it. It's free, and will correctly copy transparent image data, through the clipboard, into Dream Maker. If your program doesn't copy correctly into GIMP either, then you may have to try exporting it as a file, then opening it with GIMP. |
I'm pretty sure the problem here is that you're not using pixel art. When things like anti-aliasing and glow effects are used on external image editors which are then copy&pasted into dmi files, you'll have horrible anti aliasing which can't be removed. The workaround to this is saving the image on the image editor and using the built in import feature on a .dmi file.

Then just don't use the effects. Why would you even use effects that you don't want in your final image?
Saving the file isn't going to be any different in that case. It's probably even worse, because then you are permanently saving the image as a file, with all of the effects that you don't want, for whatever reason. |

I don't think you understood me entirely. Effects (like glowing) can be really useful if you're going for a certain feel. Trust me, it will work once u import it. I've done this before. Just save it as a png and make sure the effects are made on a layer that has a transparent background. dmi files are png files with added information for icon and icon states

You can only copy one layer at a time, so of course you will get a different result from saving the image as a file. All you have to do is merge the layers into one before copying, then it should paste correctly in Dream Maker. It also depends on what program you are using.

I'm very sorry. I can't seem to get it to work either. I don't know what happened. I'm sure I used to use GIMP for that purpose in the past and it worked fine.
In that case, try GraphicsGale. It does work. I tried it just now. These programs are worth having anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem. |
Save it as a PNG with transparency (don't flatten it), and then in Dream Maker, open the DMI, go into the menu bar and select Graphic > Import and import the PNG.
