As I've said, (despite the date shown on the hub entry) this is an old project, and my formatting and and orginazation was a little crap-tacular back then. This code is a jumble of incorrectly-named DM files, over-use of incorrectly-named variables, and a threading nightmare! Recently, I decided to get a heavy mallet, and hammer a player queue into a puzzle it didn't belong. Whew, another nightmare. Crossed wires everywhere, just to work arround the procedure crashes. So, I say, ENOUGH!
Naturally, my first (and best) idea is a complete, and total revamp. This time, however, I have experience on my side. I'll use the same basic AI, only easier to modify and customize. In the original game, I had two player variables: player1, and player2... So much complication in such a seemly simple setup! So far, I've implemented support for multiple games, multiple players (more than two), watchers, and I've had a good start at organizing the AI. I have planned out better handling of disconnecting players (or playerless player-characters), and importing and loading of maps. What I would like to include are more teams: perhapse smirkies, and grinnies? (In addition to the smileys and frownies.) When it comes to teamates, I can just brighten or darken unit icons.
What I need input for:
- A new name! (Come on, "War" is already a card game! Is there some patent on the name?)
- Suggestions for better team smileys.
If you have any other suggestions, stick them in War's BYOND-provided forum.
