Try disabling your antivirus. If it works, make sure you make an exception in its list for the BYOND programs.

Please also report this as a false positive to the makers of your antivirus software. It'll help others who've had this issue.

Chibi, I suggest listing all software you have running. Chances are you're running some kind of security software that's running amuck. If that's not the case, you can try the debug instructions in the bug report thread about this issue.

I fixed it. It was the antivirus I just didn't save my settings after changing them the first time around.

Wooh, worked for me as well. There is something that avast! doesn't like with the newest BYOND update.

If you're seeing a message that the connection died, Avast is not likely to be responsible for that. More likely, you're simply having connection issues with that particular server--or maybe even in general if you're on WiFi.
