It's offical. With more and more crappy fangames out there, older fangames are being obsolete as people jump from one game to another exactly like it. On the other hand, the attrition rate for our classics is much lower.
Sure, LodeWars is gone, and HrH was a lot of fun, but since MOST great BYOND games last much longer, and since most fangames remain squarely in the unpublished section, BYOND is constantly improving.
And with constantly added features, such as Hosting Space for members, recent improvement in sound functionality, and (my personal favorites), viewers() and hearers().
BYOND is not in a downward spiral. Don't be idiots. Just play an old favorite of yours. Chances are, it's still there.

I seriously think BYOND needs a cleaning out, like deleting the multiple fan games and retarded anime games that are all based on the same stolen source codes. Seriously, I miss the days when games actually had some effort put into them, and were fun.
