Life doesn't revolve around our feelings, it revolves around reality.

And the victim's psychological state is part of that reality. My point is that the blaming approach is not going to function as a good way to help alleviate their trauma.

Anything inside your head is not reality. Is God real? Maybe, but God's existence is not founded on whether or not you believe in it. The important thing about reality is that it can be verified. If you see bombs in every shadow, the bombs aren't necessarily in the shadows. Your projections do not change reality.
Psychological state being a part of reality != reality being shaped by psychological state.

Correct, Psychological state has no impact on reality. Therefore no matter how many horrors you've seen, they're all in your head and not real. Grow up.

Trauma is an excuse that has been wound up by society as a means to excuse behavior, instead of addressing the real problems.
well, sometimes psychological state can have an impact on reality. It might not shape reality entirely, but when your psychological state includes 'the desire to open a door', and you carry out the action to open that door, then in effect you've altered an aspect of reality.

The point is that discounting the victim's needs and state of mind when going about this issue is not sufficiently addressing the reality of their situation.

Please think before you post.

No one's discounting the victim's needs nor state of mind. The victim's state of mind and needs made them vulnerable. They're an easy target. They got assaulted. If the victim had been more wary, they wouldn't have been such an easy target, and they may not have been assaulted.

This entire post is about addressing the things you CAN address. You cannot stop people from being predators. This is unfortunate but true. What you CAN address is how alert people are and self-defense measures.

Do you leave the oven on when you leave the house empty? Nope, that could cause a fire. Do you let your baby play with small toys? Nope, they could choke. Do you let your baby bathe alone? Nope, they could drown. Notice a trend? Instead of blaming the oven's creators for the fire, you blame yourself. Instead of blaming the toy manufacturer, you blame yourself. YOU are in charge of YOUR safety. And if you fail, you take the consequences.

Psychological state has no impact on reality

lol.

But in any case, you're still missing the point. Yes, the victim made a decision which ultimately put them in the situation. But if we're going to agree on the function of 'blaming' as an assignation of responsibility, AND we want to support the victims in their recovery, then placing blame on them is not effective.

Also, your comparisons are all invalid as the situations/actors/results involved are hugely different.

The victimization IS the recovery. If you play with a knife and you get cut, you get hurt and you learn to not play with knives. Supporting the victim? Education. So we place the blame on them , slap their head, and teach them how to keep themselves safe.

If you do not take care of your own safety when you're in public encountering strangers, who then do you expect to take care of your safety? Simple as that. It's not a stranger's job to make sure you're safe. It's nice if they do, but they have no obligation to bail you out of your own stupid decisions.

If you get raped, you will have learned a valuable lesson about the tells of predators and how to protect yourself.

She made the decision to goto a party with people she hardly knew, where there were how many people? I agree, she should've handled it differently and brought someone trusted with her, but it's not in any way her fault that no one at that party had heart enough to see what was going on and help. I'm sure many there knew what was happening.

'But it's not in any way her fault that no one at that party had heart enough to see what was going on and help'?
What???
Do you live in real life?
Sure its sad that you can't depend on another human being to have some type of moral decency but hey...
I can see why its fading from some societies...there are just some things in life that are tearing humanity apart limb from limb ever so gradually but consistently.

Anyway, here's a (few) reason(s) why nobody might not have noticed or 'cared':

1)More than likely alcohol was present
Alcohol is a sedative it numbs your CNSystems this in turn diminishes your sense of awareness I'd say so it even diminishes your emotions...
AND, if alcohol was or wasn't present there were probably other drugs present...

2)Batman couldn't make the party, he had to work late.

3)Superman doesn't exist, unless you live in Metropolis.

4)Green Lantern was eating lunch with his alien buddies.

5)You weren't there.

Everyone, even children, knows there are bad people out there that do bad things, but no one expects that person to be so close to home. Did you suspect Cosby of rape? Jared of being a pedophile? It's not as easy to simply pick these predators out as you're wanting to make it seem.

Suspect Cosby as a rapist...
Jared as a pedophile lol...
That's the problem with people these days. They believe just because a person is seen on TV or emphasized on some sort of media that they "know" that person.
Hah.

What people don't know is that there is a science to life, there is a science to religion, there is a science to everything... Its just about finding that formula.

Heck why are people so amazed by stars/celebrities and such anyway? To the point that they want to go to their concerts and just get a picture or touch their leg while they were performing.

Why?
Because there is a Science to that and there are people that know the formula.

Anyway all in all, if you not ugly as f don't go partying alone. Or with people you don't "know" with your life.
No one knows or believes I am a serial killer, and I like to keep it that way.
is that the episode where eustace is like in a restroom or something and the guy is like "you sir are EXTREMELY bald"
Naw clearly that guy is trying to sell someone something
