Hello Air Mapster!

I was playing Hog a few hours ago and I noticed
[Warty], the computer AI, spoke to me in portuguese!!!
Now that was REALLY spooky!

It said: "Agora é pessoal!" that means:
"Now you are getting personal!", I know that
because I am a Brazillian, how come you speak
portuguese too?

Are you from Brazil too? :o)

Cheers!
Felicidades!

Julio

Ha! I don't speak Portuguese and I've never been to Brazil... but I used to work with a pretty cool guy from there several years ago.

The computer AIs in Hog have lists of various random things they will say on occasion. For a little variety, I headed over to Babelfish and translated a few of the phrases into various languages (French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, ...). Pretty funny that it picked that one to say to you. ;-)

The computers in Una also do the same thing.

Yup.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams, ca. 1972, I believe. Funniest damn book I ever read:

"The flower pot thought "Oh no, not again." Curiously enough, if we knew why the flower pot thought this, we'd know a lot more about the galaxy than we do today."

Yes, it's a very funny book. And as a bonus, hidden among all the humor you find plenty of thought-provoking ideas.

Actually the BBC radio series aired in 1978 and the book was 1979.

[WARNING: minor semi-spoiler below]

I did--in fact, after the first reading, I was pretty depressed for a day or two! I read an interesting discussion of it somewhere (Slashdot, maybe)... the upshot was that because of cultural differences and whatnot, British readers would generally find the ending much more palatable than Americans would.

(Which once again proves that the Boomer Bible is right about everything.)

i could not belive what they did.... at the rate of the other books you would think it would go on forever and when one of them got too old they would go yank him up from the past...(whitch can still happen... i hope...) by the way, what is a bar doing sounding like a space port.... i dunno (please note: every incarnation of the fly dude was on earth.. all but the last one..(or first one...whatever) so this in fact could bring along another book... (i heard he ended hitchikers becase he was asked to work on sandman comics (never read one... are they worth the 50$ to get one of the books?) [also note: jeremiah is high on NiQuil becase of a really bad cold.... everything read here should be considered the ramblings of a mad man]

Oh. Well, I stand corrected.
