Its a lung infection needing antibiotics. It was 8 weeks befor I felt like my oldself again. If you <end of doom and gloom rant> lemme know how yer doing! | |

I had pneumonia, (or something similar... read on), when I was four and a half. At midnight, I was coughing and hacking, and I couldn't breathe at all. When my dad and stepmom asked if I wanted to go to the hospital, I said "No, I'm OK." 10 minutes later, I was turning a little blue, and they rushed me there. After about three weeks, the causes of my "pneumonia" were found; my lungs were weakened by second-hand smoke (I have my, [grr]stepmom[end grr], to thank for that). And to top that off, I had inhaled a smallish object, possibly a peanut. They operated, removed the object, and then determined that I actually did have pneumonia; the object was rotting inside my flesh and weakening my immune system. I was in intensive care for quite a while. I don't remember much about it, being four-and-a-half, but I do remember that I refused most of the hospital food in favour of peanut butter and jam sandwiches (strawberry was the best). Kind of ironic, if you think about it. =) It wasn't very pretty, I can tell you. In fact, though the scar is completely gone (and I wouldn't remember where they operated), I still get a really sharp pain in the base of my right lung now and then, especially when exerting myself. The pneumonia was treated with some pretty harsh antibiotics, and I was pretty out of it for a while, what with the strength those chemicals have on a 4 1/2 year old kid. | |
