As my computer ages and my floppy/SuperDisk drive begins to act funky, my fancy turns lightly to thoughts of hard drive backups. What I'd like is something that:

* can selectively back up large amounts of data--1 or 2 GB would probably suffice
* is external (attaches via parallel, serial or USB port)
* is fairly cheap to purchase (slow performance is no problem if I can let it run unsupervised overnight)

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

AND IF YOU PUT THEM IN YOU VCR IT MAKES ALL SORTS OF FUNKY SOUNDS AND COLORS!(but it wont work afterwoards so only do it with you backups backups backup.

Get a DVD writer and create a DVD as your backup. Very convenient way to handle it.

that wont run on a USB port. you would have to install it as its own port. i dont think he wants to do that. and by the discription of his computer it cant handle it. my computer can hardly handle a DVD port and its a new one.
