I've been looking at some of the code snippets people have been posting here, as well as in the demos and libraries, and I've noticed something. At first I thought it was just coincidence, or that if I ignored it, it would stop, but it's only gotten worse with time.
EVERYONE IS USING MY LETTERS AND PIXELS!
That's right. When I first made LexyMUD, I made a conscious creative decision to use a specific set of alphanumeric characters to write the code, and different colors of pixels arranged in a 32x32 grid to draw the icons. I was very proud of this, as I thought it was quite clever. But now, I look and see... the same alphabet. The same base-10 numbers. Even icons made from WHAT ARE CLEARLY THE SAME PIXELS, ONLY REARRANGED AND PUT IN DIFFERENT ORDERS.
I want everyone to knock it off RIGHT NOW. Get your own alphabet! Get your own pixels! These ones are mine!

Who cares who rips off who. Hell, look at all the DBZ games! You're an amazingly insightful individual. The proliferation of DBZ games and resulting recriminations hadn't even entered my mind when I wrote this post. "Wonders, Lisa? Or blunders?" |

I'm sarcastic with people in general. Second of all, he didn't get the point of it, so I gently pointed it out. Er, I mean, I sarcastically pointed it out. The point is that I pointed it out. |
Knock it off, Lexy... stop teasing the clueless!
Anyway, I invented red. I demand that you take all of the red out of your games right now! *thwacks you wit a stick!* On 6/12/01 2:45 pm LexyBitch wrote: I've been looking at some of the code snippets people have been posting here, as well as in the demos and libraries, and I've noticed something. Knock it off, Lexy... stop teasing the clueless! I don't get it. ;-) (Kidding, kidding!) Anyway, I invented red. I demand that you take all of the red out of your games right now! I invented transparency. Everyone, get rid of the mask colour in all of your games! I don't want to see any icons showing through beneath any other icons, or I'll sue you for one heck of a <font size=-1>(small)</font> sum of money! |
Lexy, feel proud. People spend their entire lifetime sometimes, trying to get people to use what they made. Do you think the first inventor got pissed when someone used what he made?(actually he probably did, damn cavemen)What I'm trying to say is that if you feel this emotinal about something that you made being popular, then tell everyone to put some kind of thanks to you in their game.

Heh, I'll definately put Lexy on my thanks page then. I already have quite a bit to thank Deadron and Spuzzum for, not to mention Dan and Tom. Lexy, a most profound thanks for sharing the alphabet and all those lovely pixels without which my game would be remarkably bland. |
Bah. Your alphabet is a clear ripoff of Zork II. Some of your pixels are original, but I've spotted at least three that I'd swear were taken directly from the original Warcraft.
