After spending the last hour and a half working furiously on more humanoid icons for Darke Dungeon, I've come to realize (yet again!) that I have very little artistic talent.
Given the choice between the masterwork of pixels that I have been working on and the smileys that are in the game now, I have no doubt that everyone would prefer the smileys. :P
Anyone have the URL for a tutorial about animating the human form performing a variety of maneuvers in a 32 x 32 icon?

Here's what I've just started doing for new icons in my game. I find a nice picture in a larger size, then size it down to 32x32 in Photoshop. Well, I finally found a woman that would let me photograph her in her skivies. She seemed really enthusiastic, until I climbed a 15 foot ladder to get my 3/4 perspective shots. She got pretty upset when she realized I wasn't trying to make out with her. I tried to explain that she would be imortalized as an icon in a video game, but all she wanted was sex. Needless to say, I couldn't work with her and sent her away. Some people really have screwed up priorities. |
Doesn't help much with terrain (which anyone who has seen my game can tell you I'm awful at), but it's great for people, clothing, small objects, etc.
