I had been working on SpaceTugReserection day and night to get it ready fro GoB.. but alas.. any more than 70 aliens creats a large amount of lag... yes Space Tug is a verry lagy game.. but this is not becase of the connection speed of the server.. no this is becase of the code.. though the it is one of the best and most acuret games... this creates CPU problems.. i ran a CPU on my version and cameup with about 87% and this was with 30second reaction time (on my own comp..) and 2 second pauses in between everything.. like it would take 2 second for an opening door to open a little then two more to open more and so on... so now begins another 3 weeks of codeing to reduce lag where ever it is found... this game cannot be played correctly with less than 70 aliens... so it is back to work.. ANYONE with an ExE version of SpaceTugReserection should delete it upon reading this...

this game cannot be played correctly with less than 70 aliens... Ah, yeah... the critter's AI is currently lousy, in terms of both effectiveness and efficiency. Two or three would be just fine, but 70--yep, could be a problem! |

What I do in FaceHug is dynamically generate aliens as players venture into different areas. So if a player walks into the building, it'll start subtracting from the pool and sticking new aliens in the ventilation shafts. Anywhere that a player can concurrently see, an alien WON'T be created. That way people don't see aliens suddenly blink into existence. man yours is MUCH better than mine... oh wait i said that in another post... ok disreguard this one. |

Plus, it adds to the atmosphere, "What? I was just there, and there was no alien!!! AAAIIEEEEEEEEE!"
Anyway, with my method, I've found that I tend not to have more than 20 aliens running about. When I enter a different area or room, it draws some more of the aliens from the pool (that magic number of 167 is the limit of the aliens, of course).
