Maybe Canadian Mc'ee'D's employees are different than American ones, but I have not once ever seen a McDonalds employee smile when I came up to the counter. They only smiled when I asked for a smile as part of my order. More or less, an exasparated smile. I delight in making other teenagers uncomfortable. ;-) Yup, hence my adding one to the order. =) |

The reason Mackers employees are the happiest of the fast food chains here in New Zealand, is cause they get payed half as much again (about $12 an hour vs. $8) as the other chains.

I always wondered what they do with the rest of the person that the smiling face is attached to... Let's just say you shouldn't look too closely at your McNuggets. |

(Though many physics students believe the whole thing sucks, but that's a different matter!) When you think something sucks, it is actually creating a low pressure area that allows fluid pressure to push the fluid. It's been a while, but I think the highest you can possibly suck water (at sea level) is around 40 feet. The air would travel up the straw to the height of the surrounding atmosphere and stop. Beyond that point, there would be vacuum within the tube. The true mystery here is... where do you get a 250 mile drinking straw without any holes in it? :) |

dude, thats heaven.. i work costrustion for 3$ an hour.. and i dont even get food... I'm not trying to poke fun of your condition. But it's my understanding that what your employer is doing could possibly be illegal. Hence why they call them minimum wage laws, rather that minimum wage recommendations for really nice people. I dunno, maybe you've got all sorts of job benefits and those legally count towards minimum wage, but it still sounds kinda sketchy (unless you do live outside the U.S., in which case I've got no clue how your given country's minimum wage laws, if any, might work.) |

The true mystery here is... where do you get a 250 mile drinking straw without any holes in it? :) I think I saw those on sale at K-Mart once, although there's a chance that the object which I assumed was a 250 mile drinking straw was, in fact, a piece of plastic lawn furniture. It was late and I couldn't tell. |

Hrm. I think such an establishment would probably fall under minimum wage laws, but I'm far from an expert. The bonus could very well skirt the minimum wage laws, though. |

If you hold up a 250 mile-tall drinking straw, will the vacuum of space suck out the atmosphere through the straw into space? not at all! if you had a 250 mile straw on the ground and suddonly lifted it upright there would be desturbances in the air at the bottom of the straw as the air inside changed density to match the atmosphere at the aproprate altitude. |
