Hey everyone. Last night, I couldn't sleep, so I turned the TV on. There was nothing on, as usual, until I turned to Space, and Buffy was starting! I hadn't watched it since the first or second season, so I thought I'd get caught up. Lexy, you've got me addicted now. :p
Buffy has improved so much since I watched it. I don't think this was a new one (Angel was still alive), though. I think it was a season ender. It was the episode where Buffy's mom finds out that Buffy's a slayer (I thought her mom was dead!); Buffy and Spike make a deal to save Giles from Angel, and stop Acathla from waking up, and opening the portal to Hell. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Such a great storyline ;)
Anyway, the ending was pretty dramatic, what with Buffy leaving town! That kept me thinking.
Now, I have one question: What happens to Buffy?!?!

That was a season ender. The Buffy team started out never knowing if their show would be renewed for another season, so they made a point of giving every season a sense of closure. This has pretty much meant having the title character leave or die at the end of every season.
In current continuity, Buffy's mom is dead and Angel is in L.A... but neither of those things happen for a few years. What you saw was the season 2 finale. If you watch FX (where I imagine you saw it) next Monday night at the same time, you should catch season 3's premiere. I believe what happens in the intervening summer is Buffy hitchhikes to L.A., where she gets a job waitressing under her middle name, Anne. In season 3, she is recognized by the survivors of a vampire wanna-be cult, but denies her identity until something happens to them, and she is forced to once again acknowledge her birthright. | |
