...I went to Slashdot after reading this and my eyes bled... Is that bad?

Seriously though, are there any Linux users who can comment on how BYOND functions for them? I have to work in Windows because I don't own the computer I'm using. One reason why I work in BYOND is the portability.

PS: Me want Debian (Woody) box with 2.4.x kernal. *grunt*

BYOND doesn't have graphic functions in Linux.

The server aspect of BYOND is totally portable...but at this point the game playing part isn't really. I know Dantom would like to get it there, but to be honest I hope they don't spend time on that.

BYOND needs players to survive...96% of the players are on Windows, 4% are on Mac, and something like 0.01% are on Linux etc.

And the real Linux gamers have Windows boxes for playing games anyway.

For a system that needs to get some money flowing, what is the possible justification for spending limited time/resources on supporting players for the least significant platform, for players who almost certainly have Windows anyway?

Again this is separate from BYOND as a server...supporting serving BYOND on Linux/Unix is very important.
