Introducing a new Mechanic to the world of Pondera: Starting from nothing.
Unlike other games that hand-hold in the pursuit of easy design, Pondera has been designed to provide a Sense of Accomplishment. You will not receive a standard set of tools; Instead, you must utilize the resources at hand to create your tools from scratch.
The Following Game Mechanics have been added to the world of Pondera:
Novice Tools:
- The Obsidian Knife: Upon finding a source of Obsidian and a Wooden Haunch (from a Mature Ueik Tree), you may utilize the command "Affix" to attach the objects. After successfully combining materials, you may use the knife for a variety of functions, such as: Carving Tinder (acts as kindling for a Novice Fire), slicing Ueik Fir from Ancient Ueik Tree's (for use in making Smith/Smelting Gloves), and carving handles from Wooden Haunches (for use in creating your first Iron Hammer).
- The Ueik Pickaxe: Utilized for mining your first Iron from Stone Rocks (which you smelt in the Novice Fire for your first Iron Hammer Head). Created by Affixing Wooden Haunch and Ueik Thorn (which is found by interacting with Ancient Ueik Tree).
- The Stone Hammer: Manufactured by using the Gather command to search an area of flowerbeds for a suitable Rock. The Stone Hammer is needed for creating your first Iron Hammer.

Other Refinements:
- Gloves: Although not a new Tool, it is required for creating your Iron Tools and thus must be created by a beginner. Gloves are created by utilizing The Obsidian Knife to slice Ueik Fir from an Ancient Ueik Tree. You require an Ancient Ueik Splinter for the creation of this tool. An A.U.S can be found through High Ranked Gathering.
- Pyrite* + Flint: These incredibly useful objects will allow you to Light Fires and Forges. They are acquired from Intermediate Gathering Rank. *Note that the Pyrite is only a beginner item and should be replaced by a Carving Knife as soon as possible.
- Clay Jar: This useful item will allow you to carry a meager water supply which is used to regenerate energy. Locate a Clay Deposit and collect some Clay. Once acquired, you may cure it by burning in a fire. Fill by standing near fresh water and using the "Fill" command.

Once you have acquired these objects you are well on your way to obtaining your first set of Iron Tools; Which may now be created via the Iron Hammer and Gloves you've undoubtedly created by now. It is Strongly Recommended that you first replace your Pyrite with a Carving Knife, your Ueik Pickaxe with an Iron one, and begin creating the rest of your first set of Iron Tools. This will grant you access to a variety of Building abilities and Materials. An Axe, for example, would be useful for chopping wood for your needs.
