My question is, how can people still be playing that boring game? I played the first version and thought it was cool for maybe a week. If someone would like to enlighten me on the great awesomeness of The Sims, I would appreciate it.
"The Well Dressed Sim" and "7 Deadly Sims" were the best sites back when I actually owned the game.

I have to agree, it is a boring game :oP Especially after a few months of it. The best part about The Sims, in my opinion, seems to be the fun of downloading a bazillion different types of furniture and installing them into the game...which basically means nothing besides "more fun graphics to fiddle with."

I ditched that game though, for three primary reasons. 1) It's really depressing the way they depict life to be, 2) I can't stand having no way to shut off the ever-present "bills", there's no cheat code to turn them off, and the freakin' Sim AI isn't programmed to deal with them, so if you leave your sims running over night, all their prized furniture will be missing...not to mention that they always pee on the floor. 3) Waaay to much emphases on sexual addons for the game.

That's all.

Great resource... Even if you don't subscribe to their service...

And I'm sure there are all kinds of links there to other great sites...

But anyways...I too like The Sims... For a while I was rather addicted to it... In fact...about 4 of us in my dorm at college were playing it ona regular basis...trying to one-up each other...lol

I think the main entertainment value comes from playing God...

Although after that died down...my focus turned to architectural and interior design... I just use the money cheat code to get me all the cash I need to build whatever I want and then go to town trying to build my dream home...lol

All in all it's a pretty cool game...

I actually played the game sometimes after that week just to see how cool of a house I could make. I even tried recreating my house, but I couldn't. I couldn't make a basement.

Without bringing up any Mars/Venus bull&$@!, I'd say it's a basic difference in gaming perspective.

When you play a video game, if you go through as quickly as you can, solving all the puzzles as fast as you can (and looking up the solutions to ones that you can't), and never play it again after you beat it "completely" (except to beat your last fastest time) you probably won't really "get" The Sims, and, IMALTHO, have made a poor use of a $20-70 investment every time you've bought a new game.

Once on eBay I saw someone auctioning a +7 broadsword of holy fire. No, wait, I think that might have been an item for a different game.

What? No GameCube? What kind of evil villains would put Microsoft before Nintendo??
In response to Foomer
The ones that make the objects using a Microsoft system.

Yeah, sex in games is terrible, especially in the context of sims in a committed relationship.

More head-chopping please!
