Here's Microsoft's review : http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/prodinfo/overview.asp

It's expected to release on Feb 13, 2002, and I've heard lots of good things about it. Hehe, I might even go to the store and buy me a copy. I heard the interface is confusing at first but a lot more friendly than MSVC 6 once you get use to it. Yea, I'm getting me a copy soon! ;)

Happy Coding!
Hmph. I don't see what everyone's fascination is with web-based apps... I really don't.

But... it has a .net on it and everything!

lol, it's not a web app, although you can make web apps with it cuz it supports C#. It's the new Microsoft Visual C++. hehe, consider it MSVC 7 or something with C# support. =) I'm so excited tho!!! Nice Box too! Although waiting for Visual Studio .Net might be a better deal. Err..., Tom and Dan you guys should be excited to cuz this probably is better for developers like you guys. Geezz, it needs to come out sooner, I'd love to make my 3D games on it!

How much is it? Wasn't the older version like over $200-$300?

I guess I'll just have to stick with Codewarrior for now :(

That's what I was referring to. Geez, no one would make a compiler studio a web-based app. That's practically insulting. =P

My initial point still stands... the only really new functionality is the ability to create web-based apps, and for some odd reason people think that having more flexibility and control over another person's CPU around the world is a good thing.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious, so I'll make a remark as though you were serious. :)

Imagine you work for a company with about 45 offices, spread far enough apart that visiting them all would take the better part of a work week. The offices have a total of about 1200 independent contractors (most of whom have relatively little computer training) who will be relying on your software, and they'll be calling your co-workers and/or your boss and/or your boss's boss if anything goes wrong while they're working (and especially if they've promised a presentation to a client, and then they can't produce it because of a software problem). In such a situation, you might be very glad to have the software centralized.

Hmm... good point. Except my gripe and complaint was more about just having streaming web-apps that could do more. That's not very safe.

Sorry, I couldn't reply, I've been out for 3 hours...

It didn't just add the new C#, it added more features to MFC and more extensions to C++. That's what makes it awesome!
