Your comparisons aren't worth mentioning. The idea behind BYOND is bringing power to people... you can make whatever kind of game you want with it, free from any censorship. In order to keep this great program free, and open to everybody, the forum has to be presentable to everybody... including minors, people logging on at libraries and schools where content may be monitored (by programs or nosy teachers) for swearing, and so on. This "restriction" helps keep BYOND free. Besides, if you have any kind of a vocabulary at all, you can get across any message without resorting to cursing. | |

They take a hands off approach to the website and count on people to show good judgement and behave reasonably. It's only when someone repeatedly fails to do so that any action is taken at all. Before then, it's just talk and talk and talk, like this thread. THAT is freedom of speech.
Not letting you swear isn't "controlling your every action." The U.S. government does not give you the right to use an electronic messaging service in ways contrary to the wishes of the person or persons who maintains that sight. You have the freedom to come in here and abide by the rules, and you have the freedom to leave if you don't like it. It is the right of the server maintainer to choose those rules and how to enforce them. Dantom actually enforces their rules VERY leniently. One swear here or there hardly gets noticed. Green Dice doesn't swear once or twice or here or there... and it's not his swearing that is actually objected to. It's his whole attitude. He comes here just to pick fights... his swearing is part of that. | |

But either way...what she said was humorous... If she had just said "It wasn't an analogy, drok"...it wouldn't have been funny... But she worded it in a humorous manner... But the reason it's funny to point out your mistake is because it wasn't just a mistake... A simple mistake would be something like a typo... I could accidenatlly misspell a word (in fact...I just did with "accidentally"...lol)...but since I really know how it is spelled and can do it correctly...it's obvious that it was a simple mistake and it wouldn't be funny to point it out... But there you were...trying to act smarter than Lexy and point out that she had made a bad "analogy"... Obviously trying to prove your "superiority" to her... Look, buddy, we're spending a lot of our own time and money attempting to create a community here. Many of the long-time users here have contributed their time and money to the cause as well, which is why we have an inclination to give them the doubt when arguments come up. People set up rules (in school, the workplace, and what-not) and others may either follow them or go do their own thing. I suppose I am. But it's not a bad thing, is it? No didn't think so. I follow rules because I have respect for the people that made the rules, and I don't want to disrespect them by not following the rules. If I disagree with a rule I will voice my opinion, I fully agree with every rule Dantom has set for the forum. As I said before if you don't like it, leave!
