I went to games live and then to search and typed in "Dragonballz" I checked some.. Those all that i check where gen rips...some zeta rips.. and some ones with nonorig icons.. Isn't that just stupid? The funny part about it all is that people are going crazy over one simple little list of games. Games live is just a quick way to find links to your favorite games, and for the makers of those games to find quick players. There is nothing stopping anyone from building a website, setting up a list of games on it, and linking to the pages of those games from the website. (Come to think of it, I wonder if the hub provides a way to check whether or not a game is live or not.) People can build websites totally for their games, or for a certain genre of games and exclude DBZ all they want. I'm surprised people have not done this yet. Everyone relies too much on Games Live. The content of games live is not very well controlled, and probably never will be. You can't control what people decide to host on a free-for-all hub. Why don't you stop complaining about all the DBZ games on games live and setup your own games listing, where players can connect to the games they want without having to see the other nonsense. Of course, there's still the matter of the hub link on Dreamseeker, but I believe that Dantom will deal with these things soon enough, since it is becomming a hinderance for some people's creativity. |

The only sure way to stop Lexy from responding to your posts is not to post them, especially posts that are a waste of space to begin with.

You know lex, L A, again whomever you wish to be addressed as. I will second your last remark, and he will never see the inside of one of my games either. Its people like this kid, and yes is say "KID" that disrupts a semi-peaceful society with a hunger for power and authority, which, he shall never recieve by his lack of logic and problem solving.
I too wouldn't appreciate someone with a somewhat Communist approach on problem solving, entering something i created for enjoyment, and ruin it with constant whining and disrespect towards anyone that doesnt think his way. Historians always say History is doomed to repeat itself, so can someone say Marxism? because im sure that is what this kid wants. I believe this arguement shouldn't grow any further then it needs to because of a bratty child that wants his way, and i choose not to stoop as low as to argue with him at a constant rate, No offence to you Lexy or the rest of BYOND as this isnt what this post is about. I just wish to make an attempt at resolving a problem between two of my fellow community members, although I really arent that great of a resolver myself. I appologize if anyone frowns down upon me based on this. --Ken |

In a lot of ways I agree with you on that. Communism was basically totalitarian socialism, and socialism is founded on the flawed premise that 1) the same thing is good for everybody and 2) the government is capable of deciding how to distribute things evenly. It's a utopian ideal, and to my mind while we should always strive for better things, anyone who seriously believes in utopia isn't fit to graduate from crayons.
What Dareb really wants is a utopia in which no game is ripped off no matter how stupidly its creators handle the code. He wants a perfect community in which everyone is mature and respects each other in the games they join. Where he leaps off the deep end is that he thinks this is achievable, and that he seems to think Dantom have--or should have--some control over the problem of game rips. He wants Dantom to do all the work in policing that, in fact. And that's really where it all breaks down. Taking a look at some of his game guidelines, I'm amazed how far overboard they are. (No spaces in names, for instance: That eliminates a vast number of people who've shown more maturity than he has.) The same goes with his expectations for what Dantom can do about the rips, all the while ignoring the fact that if they were to spend all their time policing a crowd of losers, they'd never get anything done for BYOND itself. He seems so utterly locked into this idea that his perfect community is possible that he's never once addressed the consequences of his actions in trying to realize it. And he's gotten pretty darn vicious with anyone who's tried to tell him it's not going to work. The irony of all this is, in Dareb's perfect community he himself would be an outcast. We're not ever going to see utopia. But I would like to believe that the sincere actions of people committed to mutual respect will--and do--make the community a better place. More and more games are developing admin systems out of necessity, and in those games, players tend to behave better. Soon the forums are going to see much better moderation, which should hopefully tone down a lot of squabbles by removing (major) flamewars before they erupt and correcting minor infractions that might previously have degenerated into an "I can do that if I want" argument. But even without admin power, people like Lexy, Spuzzum, Leftley, Corporate Dog, and others have been voices of reason on the forums, and they've been an enormous benefit. It's a shame Dareb can't see these things. Utopians think perfection is an all-or-nothing proposition. Reality tells us that with hard work, we can approach perfection asymptotically at best, with lots of bumps and scrapes and ripples on the curve. Perfection isn't attainable, but improvement is. Dareb, sorry man, but realy let me explain afew things to you.
Now, Dantom can not realy deal with this, if somthing happens to somones game "like given out mistakily" they can't do anything, unless they want. If it was hacked, they can do somthing. If it was just ripped, they cant do anything. There is quiet afew people on BYOND, dantom just supplies the service, not a "babysitting service" Dantom did alot of work on this company, and the least we can repay him is "Delete this" "Delete That" "Bann Him" pressureing Dantom ain't helping nothing, Dareb, stop making it look like Dantom Has to do what you say, like for real, Dantom cant be held responcible for everything you do. Now, say you make a deal with your freind, In real life, you sell him a game but he scams you, you give game he dont give money. You going to go whining to dan about it? he couldnt do anything about it for the fact no one can proove it. i personnaly if i owned a company like this, i wouldnt want to look into it even if i could, last thing dan needs is people on his ass whining! Dareb, Dantom has it hard enough just trying to keep BYOND up! show some respect if somthing aint yours but was stolen, Dont worry about involving yourself, Now, no one can charge dantom if you loose your game, dantom cant be held responcible, only people is either the hacker, or the thief, in no way are they responcible thats a message some people have to get threw, and actually think before running there mouth. - RaeKwon |

While I dont like lesbian assassin personally, without her byond wouldnt be quite what it is, she gives a certain quality to it.
Even though i may not agree with her opinions, and have long arguments with her. Doesnt mean i think shes wasting space. Her opinions are just as valid as Migzors. and migzor requires a serious beating IRL |

First of all.. all my games would be original. i wouldnt go through dantom to do these things because everything i do will be copyright protected. IF my games are ripped those responsible will have lawsuits.. I wouldnt go through dantom.. But since this was not my game and i still felt responsible (because i thought i could stop the wave of rips) I wanted to do anything and everything possible.
Truth is.. unless all of the games accumulated ever make a profit exceeding $2,000 dollars in a set period of time then and Only then will Funimation even bother to take notice, and even then only speak to the hosts,. even dantom. What they would do, i dont know. But as I've said before its out of my hands, ive unbanned everyone. So. its over. Unless someone wants to be a prick and continue this.. And no, i wasnt being power-hungry, i wasnt being spiteful, I was just trying to detour people from playing the games.. oh well. |

Actually, Funimation can do nothing specifically because Dantom offers niether hosts, nor a product specifically designed for or in the promotion of any DBZ game. No where do they say " this is great for DBZ rip-off's ", or have DBZ related op-codes. They simply cease to exist because BYOND & Dantom simply offer a gaming engine and method of distribution, which is free ( in that one can distribute openly, NOT that it doesn't cost money ).
According to the law, Funimation can order them to not allow those games, but they cannot prosecute or otherwise push them to do so. Reason being is that Dantom and/or BYOND could never be taken to enough courts to have that happen. Similarly to e-bay. You can't sue e-bay because someone rips you off can you? Nope. E-bay also is not responsible for copyrighted, pirated, or otherwise stolen goods. Not to mention, Funimation doesn't hold 100% of the Copyright stuff over DBZ. They only hold the AMERICAN stuff. Just to tell you, though, they DON'T require you to make ANY money at all. They can close anybody down for any reason, including no reason, because they hold those American Copyrights. In fact, there were a series of Quake 3 and Half-Life mods that were DBZ-based that got shut down. Similarly with one that was based off Starcraft. Often, these gaming companies shut these games down because they anticipate bad or otherwise hienous attitudes which they feel will effect sales. In a community like this? They'd probably only attack if BYOND got huge, and I guarantee that Funimation would definitely nail every single person they could because that's the kind of corporate evil bastards they are. They've done it before, they'll do it again. By the way, a friend of mine used to be a Network Admin for Funimation :p |
