Hey, a friend told me to check out Symphony X and I forgot to ask him if there were any specific songs that I should look for. Could you point me in the direction of some of the better Symph X songs?
Fade to Black is such an awesome song. I suggest that you listen to Steve Vai's latest album. I also like the newest System of a Down CD, if you like them. It's really good (I think so, at least).
That song that SOAD has been playing on the radio is really catchy. I should check out Steve's latest album. I have the 7th song.

My favorite Symphony X song is probably The Accolade. Another cool song is The Odyssey, especially one of the ending parts, "Champions of Ithica."
Having problems finding The Accolade, but I randomly downloaded Of Sins and Shadow... So far it's like Dream Theater with a little more grit to the guitars.
Yup. They're pretty similar sounding. I like Symphony X's singer quite a bit better though. Speaking of Dream Theater and Symphony X, are you going to Gigantour? I just got tickets a couple of days ago, that's going to be an awesome show!
Actually I've only gotten into DT as of recently, I know nothing about their tours. What is Gigantour?

I'll note that I am going to Ozzfest, providing the hurricanes don't wash it away like they did last year. If I had a choice between a DT show or a Mudvayne show, I'd want to punch whoever made me consider making such a decision as it would take me a long time to figure out which one would be better.

Anyway, love The Odyssey, I've been wondering about a musical interpretation of the epic.
Checkout gigantour.com. It's basically Megadeth's version of Ozzfest. I'm really hyped about seing Dream Theater and Symphony X on the same stage. I like Megadeth too, so that's certainly a plus.
Wow, that sounds awesome. I'm slightly envious now that I've heard Symphony X. On a spectrum of metal vocalists, I'd say you have James Hetfield on one end, and the guy from Symphony X on the other, with DT's vocalist in the middle. Wow. And for some reason, Symphony X is reminding me of a combo of like Nightwish and Dream Theater, minus the Cradle of Filth mystique.
Damn, I just checked the tour dates for Gigantour. The one I'd go to is on August 7th, the day before I start school again, gah.
That sucks. I'm going to the one in Chigaco. It's so cool that I can drag my girl friend along with me because she also likes those bands alot.
That's awesome, can't seem to find a girl into that kind of music that isn't stupid, psychotic, or otherwise FUBAR. It might just be the fact that I live in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area of Florida where Rap/ R&B / Punk/ half-assed dance music is dominant.
Gah, dude. I met this chick in Grand Rapids (progressive what?) 4 years ago. At the time she wasn't really into it, and neither was I. I got into Dream Theater and other prog-metal bands and I guess it rubbed off on her.
Man, I can't wait until tomorrow, during the daytime, so I can blast Symph X and observe the finer details of their songs' architecture. Hmm, I also need to decide what to do with this ancient laptop that fell into my posession:
33 mhz cpu, 4mb ram, 500mb hdd... Sounds useless but somethings telling me to put it to some crazy use like... I honestly don't know.
